This review is for the food truck at Havalina bar in St John’s. This bbq will not make my list for good bbq in St. John’s. For the price there wasn’t much to it. The bun was dry, not much meat, not much sauce, undercooked veggie toppings, no side or even chips. No sauces on the counter to add. Came on a square of paper, no basket. Left much to be desired and wishing we’d gone to another place. Had anticipated checking out this new bar. A shame because the cocktails were pretty good and there is a nice shaded patio. But if I’m hungry too I will not be going here much. Hopefully they get another food option in there.

Mac and cheese was good stuff. My wife tried crabmeat mac with shrimp – it was a bit fishy for her taste. I had the brisket Mac. The brisket was a bit dry but overall it was good.

I visited when they were at the park the carts on MLK. I got the brisket sandwich. It was good flavor for sure and was fresh. Didn’t come with fries and was a little pricey for just the sandwich. Service was quick and friendly, and they know how to cook.

Had the Brisket Mac N Chez. Well balanced ratio of Mac n chez to brisket portion. The bbq sauce I had on the side so I could taste the true product and occasionally add an extra accent to this dish. I highly recommend this product and this food vendors truck.

Oh, Man, he is GOOD. Chicken wings, Mac and cheese. Slaw. You’d think that was pretty ordinary. But this guy gets it. He has the touch with the seasoning. The wings had a flavor between jerk and barbecue. The Mac was subtly flavored, unusual and delicious. The slaw was crisp and pickled but not sour. Bright. Definitely coming back

The best barbeque I’ve had in Portland. I got the rib meal with Mac and cheese and collard greens plus this amazing strawberry lemonade cake, and I couldn’t finish it. The portion sizes are generous, the ribs fall off the bone, and the sauce is just perfect.

I don’t want to leave a review on the BBQ part of his business cause I’m sure that it’s good but I’ve never tried it. I did however try a hot dog from the hot dog and cheesesteak cart. They don’t have kraut for some reason which was very odd. I got the basic hot dog with pickles, onions, ketchup, and mustard. The hot dog itself was nothing special and there were only a couple of onions and pickles. I would rate this place as a 1 star because the lady was not very nice either. But, I’ve seen the owner of this bbq joint and he seems like a really nice and passionate dude. I wouldn’t want to give his BBQ a bad review based on the hot dog I had from his other cart.

Very good brisket mac. Pretty on point with Texas style BBQ brisket. Was hoping for a baked mac and cheese but the flavor is still delicious.
