A Salt N Battered was founded because the owner, Mark, wanted to bring a concept to West Ashley that it didn’t have – reasonably priced seafood that is fresh, local, delicious, and doesn’t cost you an arm and a leg. Inspired by Mark’s love for British fare, A Salt N Battered was born.
Renovations began on the building in November 2018. It was completely remodeled inside with new flooring, furniture, and a new full bar. With the signage up, and the fish n’ chips recipe finalized, the doors opened on January 10, 2019!

Food was great. No pics of fish and chips. I ate them all. But my wife’s salad was so big, had enough to take home. Bartender doubled as host and server, great job. Grill person had meals left and right. Done a great job. Women in action and doing it. If you are in the area, check it out. Will not be disappointed.

Went Nov 2021. We enjoyed this place overall. Small little place, slower service due to staff shortages I’m sure, but decent. Some of the fish were better balanced than others. We took our food take out and had about 6 meals we were grabbing for our group. Catfish was pretty good, the cod was okay but it’s not a strong flavored fish either. Hush puppies were good as were the fried pickles.

Nice little hole in the wall lunch/dinner spot. I ordered the fish basket with cod. Overall it was very good and fresh. Would recommend. They had some decent looking drink specials and cheap beer as well

First time trying this place because I always used to ride by and wanted to try something new! Now I see why I used to ride by! I ordered two create your combo with shrimp, fish and side one with cod and the other whiting! The food was hot but it smelled as if they grease was burnt. The onion rings and fries were greasy, they gave me cod for both instead of whiting and when I called to state that Liz’s response was “well what do you want me to do”? And that is a great response but it was her delivery behind it! I initially told her that I wanted my whiting and to take my name down but in all honesty after completing some of my meal I don’t even want it! The fish had absolutely no seasoning and that’s a thick piece of fish especially will all the breading! The shrimps were ok but that had a lot of breading as well. To top it off online said it was $14 for that combo but they charged $16 because the price changed! I didn’t argue that but I could of because it was on the site as a different price! To sum things up o won’t return because the food wasn’t near what I expected! Customer service is a big key as well in a business so while improving the food presentation and taste have a powwow on customer service tone and delivery as well! I read the reviews and not one person that gave a bad review was offered anything not even a complimentary side or beverage to return!!

We were intown for the day. This spot was suggested by a lady from Krispy Kreme. She was on point. The atmosphere was cozy, and it was not crowded, and the food was good. The server, she was awesome. Very friendly. Don’t miss out on this spot. You guys should give them a try. I gave 4 stars because the fries smelt like it was fried in old oil. Changing out the oil could fix that. But, my family liked them. I would definitely eat here again. The Po Boy shrimp sandwich was delicious with that sauce and that crab dip is no joke! Loved it!
