I agree all the below comments about Naan and the food arrives after 30 mins you order it. I love Indian food too. No body even cares if the food gets delayed .

This is a little known place that usually only us Reading locals know about. I have been a customer since it was a few blocks away. The owners are always very gracious to me and my family and treat us like family! Food is amazing….just amazing…I have taken many people to this restuarant before that have never had indian and instantly they were in love. The food is spicy, flavorful, and bountiful! The buffet is a great way to experience a few of india’s best dishes. I would recommend it to any Reading, Pa visitor. I even asked her to cater my wedding! So hopefully in a year or so that will happen. Go eat here you will love it!

Not punctual, not professional, and probably not abiding by the health code.

Friendly, spacious, and clean. The food is authentic and delicious. The service was great, attentive and friendly. You get more food than you pay for. Good prices grate food. There spice’s they use are not spicy but unique and delicious. My parents took me to as well as worked for resturant for all my life. Been to every restraunt around here as well as work for red lobster. This is hands down my favorite restaurant in the area. Makes red lobster look like mcdonalds. Bring a bottle of wine like me and my fiance there BYOB and enjoy there atmosphere and authentic indian cuzine like we did. Already reserved a spot for Valentine’s day here!!

i have been a customer for years, even when they were at their old location and let me tell you that, not only has the service been in decline the last few years, but the prices have risen incredibly and the food is simply not close to satisfactory. you may ask yourself, why have i gone there for so long if it was so bad? because it is the only indian restaurant in reading. i usually frequent the sunday buffet, heck, i plan my weekend around it many times. the restaurant is supposed to open at 11:30, but that rarely happens, and on the odd occurance that it does happen, there is no food ready so one must sit and wait. they also used to have fresh naan on the buffet at all times, and if you eat indian food tradionally as i do, you use naan as a utensil, so i really cant eat without it. so sometimes id have to wait until noon to get any food, then for another 15 or more minutes to get naan. i even got so angry about it once that i mentioned something to the owner. she got snippy with me and said, we cant keep it out all the time, we make it to order now. so now, they dont even put it out on the buffet, they only get you a few pieces once you arrive, which, by the way, has to be made and if you want more, you have to ask and it takes time. now, even if you get there early, youd better hope that there arent many people there because it takes forever to get the buffet refilled. i have had to wait on several occasions, even though there were only a few people there, and have watched other groups of people become irritated with the lack of food and just stand at the buffet in order to get them to hurry it up.

Ordered biryani, chicken chitnad, malai kofta and nan. For takeout. We were asked to come after 20 min, thats usual we were there about 25 min later, were greeted good and said that the food was almost done and about a min or 2 . After waiting another 30 min we grew impatient and sought to investigate whats causing delay. There was no one out so we had to ho to the kitchen door and found every one was having there dinner and no one cared to pack our food, so we said we had to get out and asked to hurryup, later a different lady shows up and asks us to give them enough time to prepare food and said we came too early, once i gave her what time i came and the amount of time i waited, she continued saying that nan takes time and they want to prepare it fresh so customer is not disappointed. So finally we left with the food.

They have mice & roaches in the kitchen, put the same food back on the buffet for several days, and treat the help very poorly. When a friend worked there they cheated her out of 6 days pay, after firing her for refusing to clean the toilets because she had a cut on her finger ( no gloves offered!), and she was hired to cook. Addendum: I have also been told. by a former employee that they were confiscating the tips when he worked there, which is surely against the law.

This restaurant is great, clean, and the service is friendly. Many of my friends and most people I come across always have appreciated the quality of Aashiyana and its food. I always enjoy coming here for authentic and tasty Indian food!
