Amazing brunch here! The lychee pastry was amazing, and the blueberry and lemon ricotta pancakes were out of this world. My quiche was good (not great but very good.) We sat on the patio, and they turned on the heater and brought blankets for us. So nice to try something different for brunch!

I have always been skeptical about going to a Pinoy restaurant outside the Philippines (especially being Capampangan ) but. I did enjoy everything we ordered here. They may look a little different but they taste like home. It’s an amazing twist to Pinoy food that still brings you home.

I was interested in coming here based on an Instagram posting, because it was Filipino with a fusion twist. I thought ‘how fun and interesting’! I went with a GF, and we were looking for an experience. We made reservations for dinner on a Thursday evening. Upon arrival at 5:30p.m., the restaurant was pretty full. The atmosphere is really nice, because it’s located in a hotel. I give them lots of credit for the creativity of the dishes, and the way they were plated. However, we spent close to $200 without tax and tip. And although service was impeccable, and the servers were very welcoming and informative, the dishes were somewhat disappointing… hit and miss with the flavors. For example, we had the bone marrow and the sauces on it were just not jiving. The lumpia was meh, and served luke warm. The only dish that stood out were the bean curd on a skewer and the dessert. Actually, my non-alcoholic ube colada was actually really good too. I really want to enjoy this place, but unfortunately the food was a disappointment. My rating would probably be 2 if not for the ambiance and wonderful service. Do not trust reviewers on IG!!

I’m Filipino so I knew I had to go in with an open mind as I knew it wasn’t going to be the traditional comfort Filipino food my mom cooks. I came for Brunch and I ordered the Ube biscuit, and the Toast and Jam cocktail. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I think it had great flavor, I LOVE ginataan and could taste hints of it which made me happy. I thought the veggie garnish was a little random, it was all one big piece and I didn’t really feel like it went with the dish, so I just moved it to the side. The toast and jam cocktail surprisingly had a buttery toast and jam taste, great for breakfast, but for $16 I wished I got more.

We had just arrived in San Francisco early evening on 14 June (usually here at least once a year, but our first time back since pre-pandemic). We were looking for somewhere near North Beach, where we were staying, that we had never been to before and my partner noticed ABACA on the Eater San Francisco heat map. This place is amazing! I was at first worried that it was in a hotel, but that melted away, we were instantly transported upon arrival. We were thankful that our outdoor reservation could be accommodated indoors (the wind really kicked up and the ambiance outside was not for us for dinner, even though there were heat lamps and blankets available). Angelo was our server. He was stellar! I was instantly at ease to learn how knowledgeable he was about the menu and preparations. This was our first time experiencing Filipino cuisine and I have severe allergies and Angelo not only kindly walked us through the menu, but he also marked up a copy with an “x” by items I should stay away from due to allergens for me, and he had me keep the menu on the table for reference since my partner would have items on the table I could not eat. LOVED the Gulf Shrimp Piaparan and the amazing Java Rice (with toasted grains) and Brussels Sprouts. The flavors were incredible. I also had a glass of the Breaking Bread orange wine. My beau loved the Thin Cut Pork and Chicken Satti and Brussels Sprouts (and the Java Rice). We were very full after the meal but so blown away by the food that we HAD to share dessert! The Casuy Sansrival was spectacular! Also of note: everyone at tables around us was having so much fun and watching all the food come out was wonderful. I have to mention again: Angelo is amazing! The rest of the staff who greeted us and brought water and wine and ran our food were also wonderful and attentive. Can’t wait to recommend ABACA to friends in NYC who come to SF and friends in SF who I know o have not been here!

We LOVE Abacá! We’ve been a huge fan of Chef Francis and Dian since COVID lockdowns when we’d order their meal boxes. Since they’ve opened their restaurant, we’ve been 10 times and have had a fantastic experience every time. The menu is constantly evolving. The staff, the food, the cocktails, and the pastries are all top notch.

This was our first morning in SF we decided to eat at our hotel. The food was amazing especially for being in a hotel. The service was good and the atmosphere was fine. I had the Filipino breakfast and it was amazing the flavor and meat was great

Well this is a place. Stunning food. There were so many interesting and exciting things on the menus we ordered too many, but ate them all.

I rarely leave negative reviews but I felt that others need to know about the poor service at Abaca, especially if they’re going to charge an automatic 20% gratuity.
