The food was hearty and not bad for bar food. The servings are huge so the place over indexes on quantity versus quality. I would keep expectations low regarding it being any sort of fine dining spot. The servers were really nice both times we stopped in over the three days we were there.

Note: We were the only full table of brown people in the restaurant at the time of this event. My family is Asian American, my boyfriend is African and my baby is mixed. Part of my family was here to snowboard, so we drove up to meet them for a nice lunch at this restaurant. It was definitely a busy time at the lodge. I am grateful to the employees for working and making it a fun and exciting place to be.

It is a very nice spot yo take a break from the mountain, recharge and refuel before getting back out there. Food is really good but i think a bit overpriced. Service could be a bit better but for the most part everything was decent. Definitely is crowded during the day in between skiing so you might expect a bit of a wait for tables. Check it out for the food.

The $12.50 meat and cheese plate sounded appetizing on the menu and indeed the 8 thin slices of sopresata and salami were pretty good – but it should’ve been called a Pickled Vegetable (heavy on the pickled onion) and stale bread plate. The bread tasted several days old and was sort of oily, chewy and hard. The $15.75 Nacho Mountain was impressive in size, but once we were beyond the top layer of guacamole, olives and cheese sauce, It was all chips. There was nothing on the inside of that mountain, just tortilla chips. They did put a layer of cheese sauce on the bottom.

Food used to be really good but it’s been cheapened while giving it fancier names. The nacho mountain was amazing up until this year… Now it’s the Alprenstube nachos or whatever now. And it’s gross. There’s no cheese, there’s… Sauce? Gravy? Liquid something that has almost no flavor and the chips are absolutely DROWNING im it. At least half of they tray is inedible and it’s $19 or $24 with meat. Incredibly disappointed. Literally don’t want to eat it.

“Aromatic white bean chili” was $14 it was a tiny portion of pinto beans and no meat and it was cold by the time it got to us. Very underwhelming. Had to resort to getting food downstairs and the waitress informed us no outside food was allowed so we packed it up right away. Then she came by and said “do you mind if I get rid of these for you” after we had taken one bite and put the lids on to leave. Super rude about it. Don’t waste your time and get the chili dog downstairs for $8 it was phenomenal

I’ve been skiing at Mt Hood Meadows since 2007. Alpenstube used to be a “high end” (whatever high end can mean on the scale of an average grade ski resort) – at the very least, it served decent food, significantly better than total junk next to it in the lodge. This year, first ski weekend of the season, Alpenstube turned out to be a total disappointment. Chicken which sounded yammi in the description turned out to be a fast food type fare at ridiculous (for what you get) price. Think “Kentucky fried chicken” at, like, 5x the price with a label of full service restaurant. Fish and chips entrée is gone. Menu got two times shorter than it used to be. $50 for two for junk food? Give me a break! Another step of travel of Mt Hood Meadows ski resort down the drain…

Their nachos are great. The Bloody Mary on the other hand is way overpriced and not good. $15 for a single was fair, but the waitress up sold me to a double. $28 bucks! What a scam, they should inform you with that kind of up charge on a double.

Not the worst for lodge food but it would be cool if it was just good food in general. Weird menu and ok food – great service. Ditch the ‘cheese sauce’ nachos and just put cheese on the chips and slide it in the oven please.

Great place to rest and refuel between runs down the slopes! Really liked the 50th Anniversary A-zone IPA on tap, the French dip (one of the best we’ve had!) and Rogue Bleu cheese and bacon burger were awesome, and the fish tacos were fresh and light. Host staff and servers were friendly and efficient. We love Meadows and the Alpenstube!
