I’m a huge fan of Al and his burger empire — the world is a better place for it. I’m a loyal Franklin Street customer but with extra time on a Sunday, I thought we should check out the new location in Governor’s Village. This place is just like Al, it feels like you’ve been coming here for ages and you are already best friends. Our server said yes to everything – literally – she even found a way to say no by saying yes. The food is a good as ever. I had a Melly Mel; my guy had the breakfast burrito and a hot dog. Breakfast burritos are usually really good or just serving a purpose. This was one of the best we’ve ever had. I still want my final moments to include Al’s pimento cheese fries. Here’s to Al and his empire of love for food and his community.

We have been going to Al’s for awhile now, at both the Southern Village Location and Franklin Street. Saturday we decided to try the one in Governor’s Village. Initially, our experience was great. Nice people, quick service. We had a drink while we waited for our to go order. We took the food home and both of us got halfway through our burgers before realizing they were raw on the inside. We both are all for a truly medium cooked burger BUT these were beyond unacceptable. His was cold and the beef was so raw that a new patty could have been formed from the raw meat inside the burger.

So far, in two and a half years, these have been the best burgers I’ve had. I love that you can have any burger as a slider. Anyone thinking of going to this place, keep in mind, the sliders are more filling than you’d imagine. The hotdog was extremely good too. I love the grilled bun. Definitely try this place out!

There are so many great things to be said about this lovely Pub. Let’s start by pointing out Al is a MASTER OF HOSPITALITY! Like in his other restaurants (Al Burger’s Shacks) everyone feels welcomed and is treated with utmost respect. You are a real guest here! Unlike in greedy profit oriented restaurants (you’ll find many of those in Raleigh) where customers are treated like a cattle – in Al’s Pub Shack customers matter the most. As they should.

OMG this (the pub) was so good! We got the Willis, the ribeye/French dip, Burger, fish and chips, and chicken tenders with Mac and cheese. Everything was so great!! The tater tots were amazing. We will definitely be back and it was totally worth the wait for them to open. Very different from the burger shack and delicious!

We have all been patiently awaiting the opening of Al’s Pub Shack and they did not disappoint! The food is on point with their other 2 locations however this menu is completely different. Do not expect to come here looking for your favorites but be open to finding new ones. I had the tater tots and jackfruit sandwich. I was not blown away by the sandwich but come on….. Al’s is know for his BURGERS anyway. Great location, outside seating, great hours. Good stuff people.

The burgers are well deserving of their many accolades. The garnishes were absolutely fresh as was the burger buns. I’ll definitely be back for another . . . But next time I’ll tell them to hold the sauce which detracted from the burger.

A “Ukegal”
We read the menu and then left. Very unusual menu. I felt really bad about the waitress not getting a tip because we didn’t eat there. We were there around noon and there were only people at two tables including us. The waitress did say that they were going to be adding other foods that we might enjoy at a later time.
