The hotdog and fries were good. If you crave a hotdog they aren’t a bad option. The ratio of hotdog to bun was a bit high though. You’re going to eat about 3-4 inches of hotdog without any bread or condiment because it sticks out past the bun that much. There is good communal outdoor seating. There were a lot of people when I was there and I felt comfortable with the seating situation.

Everything I had was good, except the burger. That was very good. I had the cheddar jalapeno burger… if you have the jalapeno fried up even better. I took my son with me the last time we were up that way, and he was just asking to go back. He liked their chocolate shake and hamburger. I will definitely be back.

I love this place I’ve been coming for decades. I do wish they would bring the wings back on the menu but if your looking for an old school good hot dog place this is your spot. Also cash only no credit cards.

I know times have changed but food was not good. Chicken was over cooked and couldn’t chew. It felt like rubber. Mozzarella sticks were mush. When I called girl says it was where they get them from. No they were freezer burned and nasty. The cheese on the chicken wasn’t there. She said she melted it too much. Kids always loved this place but definitely went downhill!

Had a hotdog and Hamburger was nothing special. Got onion rings those were disgusting to put it nicely. atmosphere come on , do a paint job atleast to make it look like your trying.. french fries were soggy. If I could give less then 1 star I would. This place used to be the go to place , now I say go by this place not worth time or money . Won’t be going back ever..

I’ve seen the sign from RT 8 many times and decided it was time to stop in and test them myself.

In a state loaded with great dog places, Al’s is average. I’ve been a couple of times with the same results. I ordered a Texas dog (Chili, cheese, jalapenos) and onion rings. What I got was half a chili cheese dog (the other half just extended on each side from the undersized bun), with a small amount of chili buried under a ton of cheese whiz and some canned jalapenos on top. The bun is literally half the size of the dog. After eating half a plain dog from each side, I got to the rest, and the chili was just hard to distinguish. The onion rings were nice and crisp, but on the whole, there are too many other great dog places to settle for average.

Drove all the way out there and they wouldn’t take my card. Then told me I could go inside and use their overcharging ATM to pull money out. I was already spending $14 bucks on a burger and drink. Ends up being $16.50 and the food wasn’t cooked though. I don’t recommend this hotdog shack.

Ok, I used to go here all the time, and times have changed everywhere! Prices are crazy, the service is still great, there are no pickles, onions or relish outside on the table, just katsup and mustard☹️. You have to ask for it at the counter, and you get a little baby sized container. Sometimes it’s the small stuff that matters.

It’s a hot dog stand. The hot dog was good enough, but there are much better hot dogs that can be had in Connecticut. This place is good in a pinch
