But of a mixed bag for this restaurant. My parents had gone here for their anniversary on a Tuesday afternoon and they said everything went perfectly. We went as a family a couple Tuesdays later and the cooks were having a lot of trouble with cooking the steak. One of us had ordered it medium but it came out as blue. When we sent it back the pieces of steak ranged from medium to rare. They sent it back one more time and the cook must have been fed up so they cooked it all the way to well done. Thankfully the staff was kind enough to take it off our bill for all the trouble. Aside from that the wait staff is very attentive and will make sure you are taken care of. You will almost never have an empty glass of water because they are constantly coming by and making sure things are going well.

We placed our order at 5:55, we got our food 50 minutes later. Our server checked on us once to tell us it was still being worked on. We watched as multiple people came in after us and got their food. We ran out of water while waiting. We ordered bread for $3 and finished the basket and no one came to ask us if we wanted a refill. I flagged down a bus boy and he brought us more bread. When we finally got our long awaited food, the lasagna was so salty and heavy I lost my appetite. At the end our server asked how everything was. I said I didn’t appreciate waiting 50 minutes after ordering to get my food. He said “It’s not my fault, it’s the kitchen they are just bad”. Instead of taking accepting some blame and having some humility, he deflected any responsibility and got defensive when I brought up my legit complaint. He didn’t even comp us for the $3 bread which I thought would have been appropriate. Disappointing experience overall and will not be coming back.

Came here for our anniversary dinner. Staffs are wonderful. The restaurant was pretty busy, but they sat other patrons away from our table so we could have a special alone time. Really appreciate it. They also constantly refill our water whenever it gets low without having to ask for it.

The food was as delicious as we expected it to be. The service was excellent and the space is very comfortable. It’s a great addition to Carmel Valley.

I have given this restaurant multiple chances, hoping that the negative experiences were just isolated incidents. Unfortunately, each visit has left me thoroughly disappointed. The food consistently falls short of even basic expectations, with flavors that are unappetizing and ingredients that seem poorly chosen or prepared. The service is equally disappointing, ranging from inattentive staff to outright rudeness. It’s disheartening to see such a lack of improvement despite giving the restaurant several opportunities to redeem itself. Regrettably, I cannot recommend this establishment to anyone seeking a satisfying dining experience.

We just came back from a Mother’s Day dinner at Amalfi. Absolutely outstanding food. All six people loved the food so much, we can’t wait to come back. If you want a place that serves quickly, this is not that place but the wait was well worth it. I would recommend they consider serving bread/oil as soon as people sit down. We had a lovely waitress and she did ask if we wanted any bread 20 minutes after we sat down. By then our little guy was getting cranky. When the bread came, it was just bread, no oil or butter. So if they just make it a routine to serve bread/oil to all tables and right away, hungry kids and grandpas will be much much happier.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Amalfi and my experience was exceptional. The bruschetta with smoked salmon and the lobster ravioli were undoubtedly the highlights of my evening! I was impressed with the exceptional service provided by Katarina! She guided me through the culinary offerings with enthusiasm, recommending perfect dishes!

Great restaurant in Del Mar Heights. Food was great, staff was incredibly friendly, and the ambiance was excellent. Honestly, their portions could be a bit smaller as it seems like there was enough food to feed an army.

Loved the “choose your own adventure” old fashion. The freshly made pastas were amazing and both cooked and sauced perfectly. The desert selection was great and paired well with the limoncello shots. Very nice and attentive staff. Highly recommend.

Absolutely the best Italian restaurant we have ever been to. Our waiter Giseppe was amazing and helped us order an incredible Italian wine and some of the best entrees I’ve ever eaten. Everything from the steak special to the scallop risotto to a calzone or pizza was flawless. The service and management are extremely friendly and helpful. Looking forward to coming back regularly!
