Very cool place! The decor is really interesting and the place seems to be always quite packed. The bartending staff are really lovely and it’s dog friendly which is a plus. They say that it’s the home of buffalo wings, and they are decent don’t get me wrong, but I do feel like I’ve had better elsewhere. The spice isn’t that hot and we got the spicy garlic Parmesan and spicy medium (original). Definitely worth a visit though!!

One of the many supossed first hot wing places. This one has a plastered all over the outside, and by some accounts, this is where hot wings were invented. Of course, that doesn’t come without controversy.

Home of the buffalo wing, you kidding me. Doesn’t get much cooler than that.

Having eaten many a buffalo wing over the years, when the chance was offered to eat at the origin location of the buffalo wing concept, we jumped on it. Parking was straightforward via the attached lot. We arrived in the afternoon and though it wasn’t too busy at first it picked up quickly. We were seated immediately and our server was very nice and attentive.

The atmosphere was well done. When we walked in it wasn’t busy and unfortunately our male host was too busy to notice we walked in and stood 5 feet behind him while he talked up another waitress (who had tables and was trying to input orders). I had to interrupt the conversation since we had no idea if we were at the stand. He apologized and took us to our table. Our waitress was swift and nice but didn’t bring us silverware or ask if we needed anything (even ketchup, salt or pepper). We had to flag her down for those (by that time the host was over on our side on a milk crate sitting and talking to her so I’m sure that’s why she was preoccupied). The appetizer came out and it should of been obvious what’s to be coming …. Well over-fried food. The mozzarella pizza sticks had a cheese texture of a shoe but the pepperoni was fine. The mozzarella sticks were actually done correctly as was our potato skins. It was unimaginable that this being the FIRST buffalo wing place that they were also too over-done. Very sad. I think of this as a tourist trap (every license plate in the lot was NOT NY) with some awesome back story but if I was steering someone for wings I’d say stop by and check it out but get your wings elsewhere!!!!

Absolutely lives up to the hype. If you’re in town or looking for a cool road trip with friends go for it. The bar is super cool with lots of memorabilia tastefully displayed. The servers were friendly and attentive. The food? OUTSTANDING. I had beef on a weck multiple times while visiting the area and this was by far the best and it wasn’t even close. The meat was tender thin and delicious. The roll wasn’t overwhelming salty like other places. Perfect balance and the wings were great. Other places they were too dry but not at the Anchor bar. They were juicy and the right size for a wing and the medium sauce was great and I also tried the hot on the side and it’s not overwhelming. If you like heat go for the hot. Plenty of free off road parking as well. Prices were more than reasonable and they’re smart enough to offer 5 wings with most meals for an additional reasonable price so that you can try them without getting a full order.

Great place to have the original Buffalo wings. My family and I still think that Anchor Bar beats Duffs or Gabriel’s Gate. Anchor Bar excels in how they make their original chicken wings unbreaded extra crispy without it feeling like it’s over cooked. The chicken is tender and juicy. It’s probably the closest thing to perfect chicken wings. I would suggest you order the anchor bar wedges instead of the regular fries. It’s so good as well.

Obviously if you were in Buffalo and you love chicken wings, you need to stop at the place were the original chicken wing was invented. The atmosphere is really cool with old motorcycles and memorabilia. All over in the staff is fantastic. Our food was hot and fresh in the wings were perfect their blue cheese dressing is some of the best I’ve ever had. Everything was just like advertised!! We’ll be back!

Home of the original buffalo wings! Everyone orders wings here. Great wings, great service! The Ruben sandwich is also wonderful. The kids loved the pizza, the pepperoni one was a little well done but it really didn’t matter to them. Beer is good too! Location has excellent parking as well.
