I was visiting my son at USM and searching for something to eat. My son picked this place. Everything was spot on. Did not disappoint at all. Our food came out hot and fresh. Definitely our go to spot when I visit.

New Orleans experience all around. PoBoys has to have the right bread. Delivered from New Orleans weekly, toasted on griddle for the crunch that others in area either skip or haven’t perfected. Oysters were on point. Homemade Cajun Potato with crawtails, great combination. Do yourself a favor and go.

I had the fried shrimp and gumbo, both packed full of flavor, hot and fresh. My husband had the red beans and rice and fries and his red beans and rice was better than my grandma’s. Not kidding. Service was fast, super clean and inviting atmosphere, and I love that the owner is the one taking orders and being the face of the business. As a small business owner myself, I really appreciate work ethic like this. Unfortunately, we are from the Jackson area so we won’t be able to dine here often, but this will definitely be a regular stop for us when we do come through.

I recently visited Art of Roux and had a fantastic experience. I ordered the chicken platter with a sweet tea, French bread, and a cup of gumbo. The chicken was cooked perfectly and super juicy. It came with a side and I choose the gumbo. The gumbo had sausage and chicken in it and was perfect to dip the French bread in and eat with. It had a good balance of flavors and textures, and was a real treat. The sweet tea was also perfect – not too sweet and very refreshing.

Quick work trip to Hattiesburg and I ended up hitting this place for dinner and lunch. Tried the Gumbo, Red Beans, and a Shrimp Po’Boy. Food came out quick, was all delicious, and the service was great to boot. In a sea of chain restaurant options, this is a hidden gem and worth the visit.

Art of Roux grew from a history making food truck to a standalone staple of Hattiesburg Mississippi. From literally changing local laws to allow food trucks, to pairing with local chefs in the area, Kyle has pioneered a brand that goes far beyond just food. Oh, but it’s great too.

We ordered here for lunch. My whole office did and it was absolutely disgusting. One person ordered shrimp plate and it had three shrimp for $16. The blackened chicken had so much fat on it and it had zero taste zero seasoning. The fries weren’t even cooked all the way never ever will we order there again they just lost 6 customers in one order.

The fancy burger was not cooked all the way, some pieces of it was pink and the coleslaw was nasty. Out of all the stuff I got the Cajun fries were good. The customer service was also great just not the food.

Amazing experience. Out-of-towner looking for some clean, fresh, and welcoming southern food, I’m pretty sure we got what we were looking for! I came with a group of international students, and they all loved the food. The staff was incredibly helpful with recommendations for them and offered a welcoming environment with awesome brass-band music. 5 out of 5!
