Stopped in during breakfast time. Thinking I was going to have huevos rancheros. I decided on something else that sounded even better. California bacon benedict. I was very happy with my decision. I was also really surprised at how good the hash browns were. So buttery and light and crispy. My taste buds were soo happy. The other plate is the Arturo omelette. Really good chorizo. My only disappointment was they had a Mexican coffee cocktail but no Mexican hot chocolate. Such a bummer. Swiss miss had to do.

Great food, Joel had great service, nice place. The happy hour options are awesome! Perfect for Summer nights like these. Cleaned the plate! Cute place, nice bar! I’m definitely coming back with coworkers for the bar! Thanks Joel!

Service is good the food is awful though. I have no idea why their salsa is sweet and their chips taste fishy. Beans tasted like they came from a can but the rice isn’t bad. This is NOT remotely authentic tasting Mexican food. If you like it bland and anglicized you’ll probably be happy.

Great little place! Driving through the area and saw some other good reviews and decided it sounded great. Got seated and drinks right away, order was taken shortly after and the chips and salsa tasted better than the average place with the seasoning salt they use contrasting the slightly sweet salsa was amazing. The staff was very friendly and courteous, too! Our entrées came pretty fast and they were delicious. Good variety of flavors and sauces made for a perfect lunch. Highly recommended

I ordered a Chicken Chimichanga and Stephen had Chicken Mole. They were both good. The Chimichanga had a crispy shell and flavorful shredded chicken. Stephen’s mole sauce was tasty. A little heavy on the cinnamon. Both dishes were a little skimpy on the guacamole, but this could be that we ate late. The beans and rice were nothing special. Though it was a good meal overall. I only gave them four stars as the three tv sets all set on something different was a little much. The open space of the restaurant is shared by the bar made up of bar stools. So if you don’t want to hear the loud ruckus of people drinking while having dinner going for lunch would be a better option.

It’s always hard to leave negative reviews but Arturo’s has to do something about their prices for what you get. We ordered a 7 layer been dip and it consisted of half a can of beans, 4 olives, few slivers of cheese, teaspoon of guac and sour cream for… $10! What in the world is this? All of the portions are extremely small and they charge premium prices. The food wasn’t awful but trying to justify the prices is impossible for ordinary Mexican food in Des Moines. Go to El Rinconcitos and save yourself a benjamin.

Definitely won’t be back. Unfortunately this place was a huge let down. We are new to Des Moines and I was excited to try this place. Won’t be back. A little over 35 bucks and I got home with this. Not only were the fajitas extremely bland but cold. I live less than 5 minutes away. Ridiculously small portions. The fajitas were tasteless. Taco Time beats them in price and flavor.

We came in for happy hour and leaving with a smile. If the salsa didn’t have the sugar which was added in guac in it we would have given another star.

Huge plate loaded with rice and beans and tiny entrees. Literally the smallest enchilada I’ve ever seen and the crisp tacos were actually deep fried like chimichangas with a tablespoon of beef in each, and tiny in general. It was $21 for that combo plate. I felt robbed. I won’t be back.
