I grew up going to the Asian Chao at Richmond Mall. The owner served the food and he always filled the containers for me and the other poor, hungover lifeguards while on our break from Lyndhurst Pool. The meals were $3-5 back then (2006-2013) and they were beyond delicious. As Richmond Mall’s visitation rapidly crumbled, the guy hung on longer that anyone could have imagined. He used to go to the bank my mom worked at and everyone there loved him – a true staple of the community. When he retired and moved away, so went the Asian Chao. I’ll occasionally go to the Chao at Beachwood Mall, but year after year the portions got smaller, the food got more expensive, and less delicious. Today, I felt the hunger for Chao and that beautiful flavor of friends, family and the inevitable coma-like nap I would get to take afterword. They hurt me today. $11 for a laughable portion of garbage. Orange chicken, burnt. Bourbon chicken, dry. Noodles, flavorless. I won’t let the Beachwood Mall Asian Chao take those memories from me. Won’t eat here again (jk probably will next year and will hate myself for it). I suggest you avoid it at all costs. Don’t let their swill tarnish the good Asian Chao name. They should be ashamed, but I’m sure they won’t be. RIP the Chao of the old days… (photo of the moment I opened my meal today, dropped my fork, and held back tears)

I absolutely love this place! The bourbon chicken and orange chicken are delicious! So are the vegetables and noodles. I ask for extra bourbon sauce on the noodles and that just makes them super yummy! I drive a long way just to go here for lunch or dinner. Also I love variety, so the price is great considering I can get four items for way less than 4 items would cost at a take out place. Staff are very nice as well. It may be mall Chinese Food, but it is by far one of my favorite things to eat!

Food is great sometimes. They are so quick to make your food and never make it right. Also too expensive for very small portion!! The food there is good just that its too expensive and small.

Food continues to remain consistent over the years, and sometimes there is nothing like settling a craving for mall Chinese takeout. However, prices continue to increase and I haven’t once been given the price as advertised on the marquee behind that staff providing this service. I end up paying more than the deals shown even when I ask for what is shown.

Got 4 meals 2 double meat entrees and 2 small containers with rice and one scoop of chicken. Was charged the same price for the two small containers as I was for the large containers with double meat. Won’t be going back to this location will drive the extra distance to Mentor Mall for better service and fair prices. Terrible service, over charging and not the best servers.

For what they charge the portions are extremely small. Don’t waste your money here.

The food here is ok but they give you the tiniest portions in the history of mall restaurants. After spending $10 you think you would be full but no, it doesn’t feel like I ate anything. I got more full on eating samples in the food court. Shame on Asian Chao for being greedy with the portions. I’ll be hitting up every place in the food court except for Asian Chao from now on. Shame! Shame! Shame!

i’ve been coming to this location and the location in Great Lakes Mall for years. over time the quality of food has gone down significantly and the portion sizes have gotten smaller. additionally, this location in Beachwood place charges an extra $0.60 per entree for orange chicken and general tso’s chicken which is completely unreasonable and unexplained. i am not sure i will be back to this location.
