I love this place! Their food is authentic and it’s definitely a staple of the South side of San Antonio. They’re always so busy but it’s worth every bite. I strongly recommend this place and their tacos to-go! That bacon is straight out of a bacon heaven story!

What a gem this place is. Barbacoa is amazing, the tortillas were fresh, the beans were home made and didn’t have too much salt, so they could be mixed with whatever food you were served. The portions are generous, I couldn’t finish my whole plate. The dining area is tiny, but it’s called AV’s Food to Go for a reason. They had many drive through customers the whole time I was there (between 10:30 and 11:30). The service was attentive and friendly. We will be coming back!

I’ve been eating here for almost 6 months ever since I found them. And not only is the food very good (Very Good!), but the people here are some of the best you could want to meet! One day I forgot my wallet and they gave me my order from the drive-thru on my promise to return and pay that day. Of course I’m a regular now so a stranger probably won’t get such help but still that was above the call of duty and is TYPICAL of the kind of service you will get here at AV’s. Did I mention that the food here is very good?!!? They are located just north of 1604 on 281 on the north bound lanes. Small restaurant but they stay busy because locals know how good their food and services are. If you are looking for some good Mexican food you can’t go wrong At AV’s. Highly recommend!
