Came to Babs for a newer friends birthday dinner of which I knew no one else. Younger me would have avoided these situations but older me has come to embrace them as this is where the growth is. Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

The service as good. The food was delicious. We were asked to leave to ensure another reservation is after us. Which I found odd. I definitely would go back and try something else on the menu. I heard brunch is lovely!

Sorry to say but I would not recommend this restaurant. The nice part was the service, and the atmosphere was very nice. Some food was ok tasting like the arugula salad. The menu is extremely limited and the portions of the appetizers are so minuscule they are laughable. The croquettes are a bundle of flour, crispy on the outside but not soft and mellow on the inside. And the cheese plate was so small it was embarrassing. The plates were way overpriced for the food it was. Don’t go.

This super cozy west village gem is absolutely lovely. We arrived early and had a choice of table, corner please. Cocktails before dinner also lovely, try the Mezcal Martini. Half a sourdough followed by Beef tartare appetizer along with the amberjack crudo. then straight into their signature Divorced Sea Bream and a burger with a marrow bone on top.

Wow, what an absolute gem. Aside from the atmosphere, which feels like an underground european hideaway with beautiful people, the service was impeccable and charming.

Waiter was nice. Food was OK. There are restaurants more worth the money half a block away. They don’t take tap to pay!

Walked in based off a recommendation from a friend. The staff was extremely helpful with the wine list and steered us in the right direction with food. The highlights included the calamari, Milanese and the oxtail ragu. Don’t sleep on the crab toast which was an incredible bite! Interior design was great and will be back.

The burger was good, but the service not great, the servers seemed quite unbothered and avoidant. Atmosphere otherwise great.

My friend and I were walking around looking for a new restaurant to try and we happened upon Babs. We sat down, looked at the menu, and realized that it just wasn’t for us. The food wasn’t our taste and the burger was $25. So we decided to leave before even taking a sip of water. I told the waiter that it just wasn’t for us and he said “we want you to like what you order. It’s all good.” He was very kind and we left. While I was walking, maybe an venue away, the waiter and another staff member chased me (I assumed I left something) and accused me of stealing two knives. I opened my bag and encouraged them to look and even asked them “do people just steal knives?” They said yes, all the time. One waiter even looked in my bag, and found a laptop, one sock, a deck of monopoly deal, and some masks. The other waiter said he was uncomfortable looking through my bag. They said thank you and walked away, I said thank you, and the one waiter said “if you see any knives, let us know.” The experience left me really unsettled so I decided to go back to the restaurant and ask the manager what was going on. Was this protocol? When I approached, the waiters wouldn’t even look at me, and when I asked for a manager they asked me why?
