Absolutely love eating here! Service and food is awesome and the atmosphere is nice hometown. Pic references: we had stuffed grape leaves, chicken shish kabob in pita, ribs with rice and sm. salad.

With it being a new restaurant, my husband and I weren’t sure what to order so we decided to get the party tray with 5 different meats for $35! It also comes with 2 sides. Big enough for 4 people at least! Very pleased with both the quality & the quantity! The fried one could have been cooked less but I’m not complaining, it was just a little tough. I didn’t particularly enjoy the beans or sauce but I did enjoy the white sauce, not sure the name? Overall, we will be back! A great addition to Somerville!

Awesome food, will eat there more often, it’s different food, so that makes it better so you have more to choose than being same things at restaurants over, & over!! The owner is very kind, & understanding, & is willing to help his customers with what they like!! Bare with him as him, & his staff are working hard to get tge restaurant operating 100%!!!

Fantastic food and a friendly atmosphere at Babylon Gardens Family Restaurant. The owner came out and gave us some free appetizers and introduced himself which was really pleasant. All the food was delicious and the portions are worth the price. I highly reccomend the baklava for a tasty dessert or as a take home snack.

We ate there Wednesday night, so maybe the regular chef wasn’t there, but the food was NOT good. Well, the humus was OK and the salad was OK but the main dishes were not. We ordered the falafel and humus. Why does the pita come in zip lock bags in a bread basket and not warmed? The sauce with the falafel had a load of either cumin or curry, but was not good nor was the falafel. The chicken kabob was covered in curry and didn’t look cooked all the way through. The rice had cinnamon, I think that’s what it was, and was not good. I took two bites and couldn’t eat it. I let the waitress have my plate back and told her I didn’t think the chicken was done. It was already close to closing time, I know because she had turned off the OPEN signs, so I told her I did not want anything else. My husband had a lamb gyro. It was sliced very thick, which isn’t how it’s normally sliced. He said he didn’t like it but was hungry and could eat it. I really enjoy Mediterranean food, and have had it at many different places so I know how it should taste. This place misses the mark.

The food went beyond good to great. Service was a little slow but with shortage of people willing to work it was good too. Can’t really expect a whole lot of atmosphere in a little place at the crossroads in Summerville. I have eaten at a lot of Middle Eastern restaurants and this one right up at the top. We’ll go back often.

I hope this place is able to stay in business because it’s so hard to find middle eastern/North African type food nearby. A group of 6 of us went and service was great. We all shared and ended up trying nearly everything on the menu. The hummus was homemade. Way better than that sabra stuff at the grocery store. The falafel was the best I’ve ever had…really crispy. The dinner for 3 was served on a big pewter platter. The only downside is seating is in a large room. No privacy. But I don’t care. I’ll eat there again.

We’ve tried this place two times. I’ve had Mediterranean and Middle Eastern food in many places. This is the worst example I’ve ever had…twice! The meat (lamb, chicken and beef shawarma) is super dry and the marinade/seasoning they’re using is all wrong. They’re definitely not shaving their shawarma fresh from a vertical spit like you’d expect. I feel bad for anyone whose first experience with this style food is from here. I’d 100% rather have a Greek Gyro from Arby’s than spend another $1 at Babylon Garden. I’ve heard this is the same owner/management as Pizza Roma. They should have stuck to pizza, expanded their operation and cut down on the wait time for orders there.
