Despite the restaurant’s outward appearance it is very good. Bahn Thai is a great oasis of flavor among the boring spectrum of Gainesville cuisine.

Went there on a Friday afternoon and placed an order for Panang Curry Chicken at the front desk. The restaurant didn’t look particularly busy, only saw people sitting at 6 or 7 tables. The problem was they only had one young man waiting on all of them. I felt so bad for that kid, he was very nice and was moving as quick as he could, but between the tables, taking orders over the phone, and seating new guests he was SWAMPED. Took around 50 minutes for my order to come out, guess there was only one cook working too. The young man serving me gave me a complimentary drink while I waited. The curry was EXCELLENT, and the portion was gigantic, got 2 and a half good meals out of it. It was a little on the expensive side, but considering how much food I got and how yummy it was, it was a good value for the price. If you don’t mind waiting a while for the food then it is more than worth the wait and the price, or you can always call in an order ahead of time. Oh, and if you do visit there and that young man is working give him a BIG tip, he one of the hardest working and nicest restaurant staff I’ve seen.

Bahn Thai is a Gainesville landmark and whoever said the Pad Thai is just ok or complaining about it doesn’t know good Pad Thai. I have been going there since I was a kid with my dad and was so happy to see that they reopened. Their Pad Thai is better than anyone’s in Gainesville, and I have been craving it constantly ever since they reopened. Their combination fried rice is also really delicious. I have only ordered online from them since they reopened and the thai ice tea wasn’t available, nor did I see their sticky rice that they used to serve on the menu either. I absolutely loved the sticky rice as a sweet way to end a meal and am hoping they will have it available today when you I eat at the actual restaurant. Some say they are overpriced, but for the amount of food and the quality I think they are very reasonable. When I ordered shrimp pad Thai and fried rice I had so much food I was able to eat off of it for a few days, and they don’t try to be stingy with the vegetables, shrimp, egg, etc. I am in love with this restaurant and hope they stay open forever. And also dying for five o’clock to come around so I can get that Pad Thai I have been craving 🙂

Very kind, considerate service. I am always treated well when I eat there (which is often) because the pad thai is the best in Gainesville! While the price tag may seem a little high for one meal, it is only because the portion sizes are quite large. I typically order one pad thai to split with my boyfriend and it ALWAYS is more than enough.

First thai restaurant that I have been to in Gainesville. The lunch buffet will cost you 10 dollars and it has a decent selection. The decor is okay at best and the food is good. Nothing spectacular. Great egg rolls though!

OK pad thai, thought it was ridiculously priced but got a decent amount. Overpriced thai iced tea served in tiny martini glass with half of the liquid being sweetened creme. Slow service, who hires only one poor girl to wait on a busy Friday night?! Spent over 20min waiting only to be told the dish we wanted was out. Will probably not come back.

Good service and decent prices given the huge portions and unlimited white rice! The food is delicious and they try really hard to accommodate you. I would rate 5 stars if it weren’t for the odd hours.

Great authentic Thai food. The atmosphere is a bit lacking as the building is nearly windowless and attached to a motel. Good food though.

Massaman was ok but the Penang was nothing like it is supposed to be, and they call themselves authentic.

The Gang Kua is great, I’m addicted. And the service is friendly.
