We drove all the way from Vermont just for a meal here. 100% worth it. The tapas style plates offer simple yet taste bud delighting fare. Sit at the chefs bar to watch all the kitchen magic. The seafood is fresh perfection and the meat dishes (like the skewer take on a Big Mac) are inspired and so yummy you will wish you had more stomaches to fit in more and more. The whiskey highball is another thing to not miss. Infused with some super bubbles it’s light and refreshing. The staff were awesome and super helpful with dietary restrictions which was much appreciated. We won’t be in Portland again for a few months but already know we will be back here every time we are in town.

Bar Futo creates unique flavors and wonderful small plates. Our favorites were the Big Mac and the chicken thighs. Both created flavors that brought back childhood memories! The High Ball cocktail is not to be missed. The only negative was that the courses were served too quickly. Excellent service.

Great addition to Portland! I’m a big fan of Mr Tuna and their staff so I was excited to go and support Bar Futo. Very cool atmosphere and I love how there’s two bar style seating areas as well as the booths and tables. I had the rice bowl with duck that was very good, but the Big Mac skewers are what really won me over. If I could have had ten of those I would have. The drinks were also great, mine was served hot which was a first for me. Definitely a unique dining experience!

Our server was Nicky. They were very personable and interactive. We weren’t from the area and they recommended many places for us to endure in Downtown! We felt comfortable in the atmosphere, not forgotten about and respected as young women. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone coming to Portland that is looking for good quality food, atmosphere and service.

Everything was flavorful and delicious. Great presentation. Great textures and temperatures. Nice cocktails. We got the fluke crudo, crispy eggplant, a specialty skewer, and the gnocchi. Love them all. We also got the kakigori desert, lemon meringue. Unfortunately, that’s the only thing I remember to take a picture of. Highly recommend.

Had a great dinner at the Chef’s Bar (highly recommended). Highlights include uni, shrimp tots, Big Mac bites and the drinks. Service was top notch. It’s pricey, but you pay for what you get.

Loved the sharable small bites- grilled hamachi and fluke crudo were delicious. Duck skewers just perfect…and of course the dessert…can’t say enough about the sake selection and the knowledgeable server who asked us through the options…will go back

Originally had early dinner resv but our planned changed last minute we did not have that much time so we had some drinks and quick bite. “Spicy” non alcoholic drink was really interesting. Nice people good service. Will def come back.
