I came for lunch during the week. I had a prime rib sandwich served with onion rings and a smile. This was the best prime rib sandwich I have ever had! What really set them apart was their hospitality. I had two dogs which they allowed in their backyard and served my food on a picnic table. The owner, Don, sat with me and gave me a history of the town. Great place and will be back if I am ever in the area again.

Besr steak any of us have had. Perfectly done. Down home nice people and service. If there it’s any complaints it would be too much food! The cuts were huge. An 8 or 10 oz. CUT would be plenty. Would recommend this placed to everyone

Went to the steak house at lunch time expecting to be able to order steak. The closest thing to it were the steak tips and I thought they were a little less than to be desired. They fried them and I couldn’t taste the steak through the grease. The staff was great. The service was great, but I’m disappointed.

I went to high school in Hay Springs. I’ve lived in California, which rivals Nebraska for beef production, and been to many places in the world. My mom, Dorothy, has been with all the kids, who together have been across the globe. And we all agree: Bar J has THE BEST Prime Rib BY FAR! It’s the best meat I have ever tasted. And it’s HALF the price of any major US city! Keep up the good work.

Best steak around but don’t order liquor! I had 2 scotch on the rocks with my meal and they cost me $24! Imagine my surprise at a $67 tab (tip included) for one person!! Won’t do THAT again!
