“At sawa, traditionalism meets the bustling city nightlife.
Guests will walk from the volume-rich streets of DTLA, to the inconspicuous basement of the Kajima office building.
Within, lies a quite collaboration of an exclusive traditional sushi experience, emulsified with the ambience of Japanese inspired cocktails and whiskey.”

Somehow managed to book two seats on a workday night. Overall portion is small. Totally 17(I remember?) courses but both my husband and I are still feeling half full after the entire course. (And this is based on each of us had two cocktails) We went to yakitori afterward and had 5 skewers each of us. That’s how little portion the meal was…

Amazing experience with the staff and food. The Japanese mackerel was the highlight of the menu. Will definitely be back again. Came out feeling perfectly full.

The best sushi in LA hands down. Food and cocktails are amazing. Sushi is omakase so no menu to choose from but the drinks are a tough choice and you should prob just get one of each =) Real talk though great sake selection, and amazing cocktails. You should try the dashi martini. Sounds crazy, tastes ridiculous. Vibe is killer, but the real treat outside of the AMAZING food/drink is the staff. The whole crew is so fun and friendly. You’ll walk away with an arsenal of inside jokes that you can enjoy with them on every future visit (yes, they’ll remember you). Sawa is truly something special.

Sawa is the sister to Sushi Kaneyoshi and it’s part food and part drinks. It’s a blend of both so if you go here you have to pair it with the drink menu. Anthony is the current star along with his crew and service is the top tier for omakase with a twist. I can’t wait to go back and see this place evolve. It’s a smart idea that is still developing its menu and niche within the scene. I think it’s heading in the right direction so go to it now before reservation become horrible to obtain via took.

Another amazing omakase. Sister restaurant of Kaneyoshi. Highly recommend. Chef Anthony and Ryo-San are fantastic sushi chef.

Nice aesthetic & limited 8 person seating with difficult reservations keep the hype up, but sushi was not good. Overall, overrated.
