Barbalu Restaurant Menu – New York, NY

Type : Italian restaurant

Location : New York, NY

Barbalu is the marriage (literally) of husband and wife team Stefano BARBAgallo and Adriana LUque. Their Italian restaurant is open just a stones throw from the South Street Seaport. The couple prove their continued commitment to this historic district with the decision to rebuild in the same location as their old restaurant Barbarini, which was completely destroyed by Superstorm Sandy.

Elevated Italian fare in a rustic-chic setting accented by exposed brick & reclaimed wood. Based on 510 reviews, the restaurant has received a rating of 4.4 stars. Price $$

Pretty Good! REALLY Like my seafood risotto, Italian sausage pasta! Two Thumbs Up! Definitely a repeat for me if in South Seaport!

1.16.18 – Very nicely made pasta with friendly staff. The space is tastefully rustic/masculine. There doesn’t seem to be a wait for lunch time, but it might be different for dinner. Overall, when visiting the South Street Seaport, it’s a great restaurant to recharge and their wine selection seems good according to my colleague, but we didn’t try any. Pictures are from 1.16.18 because my phone died right before we sat.

AMAZING FOOD! Blown away by the steak and pastas here. Everything was cooked to perfection and you could taste the high quality of the ingredients. We ordered the steak, mushroom spinach fettuccine, lasagna and a white sauce pasta.

The meats and cheese starters aren’t really worth it. The pastas were really good but out of everything their Gelato really stuck out. One of the best Gelatos I’ve ever had. I’m not a fan of dessert and I could eat bowls of it.

Had an ok experience here. The restaurant itself has a cozy ambience and good service. I tried the kale Caesar salad and rigatoni with prosciutto and sage. I really enjoyed the Caesar salad, but the rigatoni tasted like boxed pasta with a store bought sauce that I could have made at home.

Was not overly impressed by this place. It came recommended but the service wasn’t great and the food left a lot to be desired.
