We came here this weekend and what a treat this place is! The owners and staff are all super nice and chat with you while you wait in line. I’ve had all the big BBQ spots in Austin and Barbs easily takes the cake in terms of flavor and service. Their ribs and sausage have a uniquely Mexican flavor with hints of salsa Verde and lime that is heavenly. The beans are full of flavor and crush every other type that I’ve had. And the green spaghet!! Everything is so good.

I fully expect Barbs to be Top 10 in the next Texas Monthly rankings. The turkey was the best I’ve ever had. The pork ribs, brisket, & beef rib were all at least top 5 for me. The spaghetti was unique but needed a little something, maybe a touch more salt & a bit of garlic? Overall, it was well worth the wait & I can’t say enough about the great job these ladies have done.

If it wasn’t for the wonderful service and their bbq sauce, honestly I would have rated it 1 star. We ordered a chopped brisket sandwich because it was the only thing left and they generously gave us a bread pudding. The brisket was cold and dry and although their sauce is amazing it did not help it. I would not recommend but hey it could have been because they were out of food.

I’ve had my share of barbecue in my day and Barbs BQ was a refreshingly good twists to traditional barbecue. The care and thought that was taken in the preparation of the food and menu item pairing really comes though in the food. I’m so excited to be able to have it on Saturdays! I recommend the lamb chops with the nopal salad (it’s seasonal so get it if it’s available ). This gem of a place is ran by the sweetest all-women staff but everyone is definitely welcome! Do yourself a favor and indulge your tastebuds!

All of the accolades are well deserved. The flavors and quality of the meat are fantastic and a reinvigorating change of pace from standard barbecue. They build on the tenets of Texas barbecue with complexity of flavors – additional spiciness and acidity on top of the fatty smokiness you want in bbq. Don’t sleep on the sides or bread. The cucumber lemonade is a nice refreshing cap to the meal.

Went for grand opening and Barb’s did not disappoint! I had Brisket- which was just flat out amazing, Turkey, and ribs. All of them were done to perfection. I had the spaghet and beans- both unique and amazingly delicious. I’m sure Daniel Vaughn will be by soon.
