After years of hearing about it we finally made our way down to Barrio in Portsmouth, NH. Barrio has a nice setup with a mix of indoor / outdoor dining and on this particular evening we dined inside though the garage doors were open to enjoy the nice weather.

This is an excellent restaurant. I’ve been here ~10 times- never disappoints. We love the house salsa, cocktails, queso, and the Scantron-style taco situation. Currently have a dairy allergy and am super impressed by how clearly they lay out the food allergies on their menu. This trip I super enjoyed the margarita flight but ate the tacos too fast to take a picture!

Barrios is busy. On Tues there was a line at 6 PM. I thought about going then. But staying on the coastal junction of NH & ME, it seemed eating the local specialties would be more appropriate. I couldn’t, however, drum up a hankering for lobster. I’m already a New Englander who’s been eating it all summer in RI & Mass. Not like the northern states could deliver anything new.

Nice price for college students and great food! Good vibes and lots of seating but definitely busy during Sunday brunch as there was a waitlist, so I would keep that noted.
