I would like to start by saying that the food is hands down, quality. The sauces have that subtle but impactful, memorable taste that you look for in Indian food. The customer service was professional and did not make you feel out of place. I am familiar with herbs and spices as I do a lot of cooking myself, but I can’t properly speak on authenticity. I will say that many authentic spices and processes are used that ensure that your meat is nice and tender, that your lassi taste like it should with that bitter sweet yogurt sensation, and that the sauce is the right color and texture. I frequent Bay Leaf whenever I am in town every single summer and I would even more if the prices weren’t as steep. I don’t mind spending the money for this food, but I would come back and back again if it were rational based on the expenses incurred. I recommend the following which I get most times that I go. Any naan, chicken korma, any lassi, lamb vindaloo, and butter chicken.

SO GOOD! I’m here visiting and tried this place for the first time. Quick service and nice atmosphere in the restaurant. Staff is also really friendly and on top of their game. Food is fantastic as well! I will definitely be back on my next visit!

Delicious, authentic Indian cuisine in a cozy restaurant. The food was fantastic and service was very attentive. You may wait slightly longer for your food compared to other offerings downtown, but it’s clear that this extra time is due to the care and attention put into making each meal fresh. The food comes out hot and tasty.

Dined here with a group of 15 ladies. The restaurant opened at 5pm and they knew we were coming but there were more of us than originally planned. They accommodated us quickly. We were on a Barbie or Bust group and had to be at the theater by 6:15! I must say they did an amazing job trying to get 15 orders served in a small amount of time. I think one person got their food too late but they presented boxes and we all boxed the remainder of our food and I for one had a fabulous lunch the next day!

Cozy environment, when we arrived it was not busy. Plenty of tables but somehow after 45 minutes waiting for our order we had to ask if our order was taken. They said it was on it’s way, such a disappointment with the presentation; the biryani rice looked like they poured broth on top of a white rice and there was broth at the bottom of my dish, I had to mix it myself. My husband ordered saag paneer and it was fine. I’d give one star for the bad service and the presentation but I’ll give them three as the food had good flavor, portions were small though. For sure they need to hire more people to improve.

Great food and good quality. Price is a bit high, especially for lunch with no more buffet. Although authentic and delicious.

TERRIBLE FOOD ! Very less portions, not flavorful at all, its definitely not Indian food. This place is a joke and crazy expensive. Thought Indian restaurants in Wilmington, NC are bad, but this one is the worst I have been to so far. The chicken biryani was just turmeric and chicken, bhindi do pyaza was just oil, okra and onions, tandoori roti was actually a hard ordinary roti… I can say more but I will stop here. The bathrooms are disgusting, leaking, stinking like a dumpster and stuff… never coming back here.
