First time going to Becks with my husband. Everyone said go for the oysters. We had to make a pretty late reservation but that was fine. Service was amazing and the wait time for food and drinks wasn’t bad. Oyster selection was amazing and I housed a dozen without a problem. I really wanted to have the blackened grouper but they were out, So I went with the lobster tail that was fried and my husband did the fish and chips. Overall the food was so so. I would definitely go back for the oysters but the mains I’d pass on. I think we were expecting a bit more the way it was talked up by everyone.

I had to visit when in town for the first time in a long while and I was sad to see my favorite 5 O’clock Bistro was no more. However it was exciting to see the space was put to good use and still convenient for local neighbors to be in walking distance to a great spot like I was. Becks is focused on seafood and probably the best spot to get your oyster fix in Augusta. They have built a cocktail bar on the right side of the restaurant in addition to their raw bar in the middle which is a main focal point. I was not overly impressed with my old fashioned which quickly became watered down from presentation with multiple small ice cubes but the menu had many other options which sounded intriguing. Raw oysters here are a must and their spread of variety impressed. For my main entree I went with the fish and chips which was probably the best I have had and one I fully endorse. The batter was perfectly crispy but not too thick. One of the most satisfying dishes Im convinced when paired with thin savory fries. My service was surprisingly slow given the low volume but extra time to chat with my fellow bar colleagues is something I always appreciate either way. Becks is a great choice and one I would venture to again to try other offerings.

Becks in Augusta is a hidden gem! The drinks pack a punch without losing flavor. I suggest the top-shelf Long Island Iced Tea to start your meal. Our dinner consisted of three meals – The Scottish Salmon, The Fried Lobster Tail, and the Mississippi Fried Catfish. The salmon was thoroughly cooked and flaky, with a lemony flavor that was not fishy. Since I was looking for something heartier, the Fried Lobster Tail caught my attention. The Fried Lobster Tail is a perfectly seasoned dish that does not disappoint. There’s flavor and not too much salt, pepper, or spice. Next time I’ll request the cook to fry the tail a little longer for a crispier coating.

One of our favorites in Augusta. Delicious oysters and the other food is great as well. I wish I remembered our waitress’ name because she was really great. This will be our special date night spot for the foreseeable future.

Zach took excellent care of us as did his teammates. The cocktails were lovely and so was the wine service. Our appetizers of the smoked wings and pimento cheese hush puppies were incredible. My salmon was wonderful with the wasabi sauce and veggies over rice and the cowgirl steak was beautiful. The true star of the show though was the decadent seafood stuffed flounder. Bottom line, we had a lovely evening with excellent service.

Beck’s is very nice, intimate spot for fresh seafood, friendly service, and nice ambiance. The shrimp appetizer was delicious and a must-try. They offer a variety of seafood from oysters, grouper, fried catfish, flounder, salmon, and halibut.

Food was great. Service was great. They need to commission some local artwork for the walls, especially the back of the restaurant. They needs to design the bathrooms better. Would have loved to see a seafood pasta or a bouillabaisse on the menu! They don’t serve bouillabaisse anywhere in the area, and of all the local restaurants, I think beck’s would be the best option to offer that dish. Jalapeño margarita is great. We had Hunter style oysters, pimento cheese hush puppies, shrimp burger, and flounder. It was all great! Ask for some “Alabama white sauce.” I would say, I wish they also had a broiled oyster option like they do at Abel brown.

I was trying something new. I sat at the bar. The server was good at answering my questions. The food came quickly. But I ordered catfish. I had to have it boxed because it was not fried well. But the drinks were good. And the appetizer.

We go for the oysters, often a large selection. Their fish entrées don’t disappoint. The back room is loud. Our fave place to sit is at the oyster bar.
