Wait staff was lovely! The hot brown was good but barely had any bread. The potato salad was small and so was the french dip sandwich. Don’t recommend getting that because you’ll feel hungry still. The atmosphere is interesting. Not sure if I like it. Seems to be a popular place with grandma’s. So if you’re looking for a place to take your grandma go here.

This is a historical sight on Main street in Shelbyville, Kentucky. It is a wonderful environment, comfortable atmosphere, the best food you could ever imagine, world class service and kindness in general abounds. It is clean, classy and very busy. Don’t expect to get seated without a reservation. There is a reason for that. This is truly a rare gem of a restaurant. Get a reservation and come have dinner. You will be so glad you did!!!

It wasn’t anything spectacular, but it was good.

I got Bob’s Burger, one of the few cheaper options available ($14). At minimum you will likely spend over $20 per person – but whatever you order will be worth the cost. I cleaned my plate and so did everyone else at the table.

My wife and I were delighted with our time here, shared the brown and added some extra sides to fill out the plates. Everything was perfect.

The chicken salad sandwich is great. The chicken is pasture raised and you have 3 choices of bread including rye…

Bell House did not disappoint! We had dinner to celebrate our 51st anniversary and thoroughly enjoyed our evening. The atmosphere is great- old building in a historic small town downtown. Cloth tablecloths and folded napkins added to the elegant feel. Staff were friendly and efficient and the chef dropped by our table where we applauded him. Prime rib and Sea bass were excellent. Also the Old Fashioned and the Tom Collins cocktails were wonderful.

We met the chef outside the Bell House on a day they were closed, but he invited us up to eat a Hot Brown on their new beautiful porch! We sat in the sunshine and learned about the history of the Hot Brown and of the Bell House restaurant. The Hot Brown was delicious (our first!) and dessert was also amazing. Highly recommend this treat!

We had Bell House cater our wedding of 40 people. Chef kept in touch with me about our options and was flexible up until the last few days with things we were still deciding. Reasonable prices and options depending on your budget. Haven’t visited yet in person, but would recommend their catering! I maybe wish there was an online way to view catering options, but at the same time, I appreciate the personable local approach as well!

Do go if you’re wondering, its amazing. Situated inside a gorgeous mid-century house where each room tells of a different place, you’ll be eating and happily looking at the building surrounding you. The food was great as well. Staff was very nice and super prompt. Will be coming back and I don’t live anywhere near here. 🙂
