On day 2 of our 20 hour drive home, searching for good, hoping for great food to nourish our travel weary bodies and appease me on my 60th Birthday. BELLA ITALIA BISTRO popped up on my Google maps and was a short stop off the highway. Everything on the menu sounded amazing but I decided on Shrimp Scampi….salads with true oil & vinegar and white wine garlic sauce over linguini with large perfectly done shrimp. Bread and great service! Then hubby says, sure get dessert! Italian creme cake…..our waitress brought out this huge plate and large cake slice, with Happy Birthday written in chocolate sauce!!!! How great is that for us!(of course I shared with the hubs)….the cake was, well, the icing on the cake..haha.

My fiance and I stopped in on a Saturday night around 7 or 7:30 without a reservation. We were seated immediately. There was a cute and cozy vibe – they had a little Christmas tree in the window that overlooks the large tree in the square. Our waitress was very attentive and eager to help with anything we needed. I ordered the cosmo and lasagna, both were perfect. My fiance ordered the tortellini bolognese – very good as well. We were given garlic bread before the meal that was so light and fluffy and garlicky .

I’ve only ever gotten carry out, but I’ve never been disappointed with the food. The pizza is really good for Texas and reasonably priced, although maybe a little greasy. Definitely an above average restaurant for the area.

First time. Ordered take out spaghetti and meatballs. The sauce had no spice, no garlic,no basil very bland. In my opinion, their spaghetti should have been great. But willing to give them another try. Please up your tomato sauce.

I like the white tablecloths and atmosphere. For lunch, I had the greens and beet salad with chicken, very good. My friend had the lasagna which was excellent. I forget the brand of Chardonnay we had but that was excellent too. They have live music on Friday nights and we hope to play guitar here sometime soon!
