I ordered the voodoo pasta. The ingredients seem fresh. Nothing hinted at them using frozen produce- if it is frozen then it’s good quality.

I went here with a few friends. The restaurant is quaint with a New Orleans feel. Let’s get into this review about the food. It was awful. It wasn’t seasoned, lacked flavor, and everyone at my table needed salt and pepper to add some seasoning. The food lacked the New Orleans, Creole cuisine taste. I was very underwhelmed especially after my $53 check came with an added 20% gratuity. The only thing that I enjoyed was the bread. I had fish, broccoli, and mashed potatoes. It’s pretty hard to go wrong with those three things and they failed miserably. The mashed potatoes were submerged in grease, again with absolutely no flavor. We left most of our food because of the poor quality of the food. The service was good, but the food was terrible. I wouldn’t go there to eat if they were giving the food away for free. I had seafood gumbo. They put two baby and I do mean baby shrimp in the gumbo. The gumbo was lukewarm, didn’t have flavor, and definitely didn’t taste anything remotely close to Creole.

The best fish I’ve had in a long time! Beautifully seasoned catfish, cooked to perfection with excellent sides. Wife had the crawfish pasta and it was excellent.

This seafood gumbo was spectacular and the outdoor seating area on Main by the trolley couldn’t be a nicer spot to relax for lunch. I didn’t ask our waitor if he was the “Ben” of “Yay” fame but I felt like celebrating nonetheless. Five stars.

Went excited to try the food, the presentation of the food was amazing but it took a turn once I tasted the food. I ordered Crawfish chowder & a Caesar salad. The dressing has a strong milk base it was not savory, and the chowder was scorched. I did not enjoy either but could not return it for something different bc that would have been an additional meal to purchase. I was out of $20 and still didn’t enjoy my food.

Unfortunately, the only positive thing to note is the ambiance. The restaurant is dim lit, relaxing and cozy. The service and food left a lot to be desired. The Portabella Sun-Dried Tomato pasta was tasty, but the pasta to tomato ratio was off which impacted the dish negatively. I have to be blunt for a second, the rice and gravy simply needs to be taken off the menu. It’s more like a rice soup and it’s totally flavorless. The Broccolini lacked flavor, the New Potatoes were edible but very greasy, and the Ben-Yay House Salad was the worst of all! The salad came out AFTER all of the entrees and it was entirely too sweet.

If you were to pass by it on the street, the place wouldn’t look like it was open. But, once you walk in, you are transported to old New Orleans with a dimly lit atmosphere highlighted by some music in the background.

Would give more stars if possible! We had the Boudin balls, Voodoo pasta, and BBQ shrimp & grits (I opted for blackened chicken instead of shrimp). Everything was exceptional! The cocktails and mixed drinks were perfectly balanced. Staff was friendly. Just WOW!

Food was amazing. Service was terrible. We arrived for an 830 reservation. Restaurant was nearly empty, with just one party of 6 (which already had food) all other tables inside were dirty with dishes piled up. We requested to sit on the patio as it was a nice evening. 2 patio tables dirty with piled dishes.

The place has a nice atmosphere as soon as you walk in. It’s dimly lit and has a fancy feel for a restaurant. The muffuletta bruschetta was tasty! The bread was nice and toasted with butter and the tangy vinaigrette sauce drizzled over it was a nice touch! The praline duck was such a huge serving! I was starting to get full from it but I couldn’t stop eating! The seafood gumbo was a bit more watery than I’m used to, but the flavor was all there! It has a nice little spicy kick to it! Overall, the food was amazing! Gotta come back and try the other dishes!
