Benny Huie’s in Sheridan Oregon was a nice little surprise in my visit to this small town west of McMinnville, Oregon along hwy 18. The food was shockingly well prepared for what I’d describe as a very nondescript facade. We ordered many of the dishes on the menu and not one of them failed to impressive in the quality of preparation. Any dish that had bbq pork that we’re all familiar with will be surprised with how moist and tender each slice is. The freshness, crispness, and flavor of any saute’ed vegetables is maintained while properly cooking out the harsh raw flavor many of them can possess. Any of the typical sauces we’ve all come to expect and from American Chinese food are pleasantly light, flavorful, and properly seasoned to make satisfy anyone’s expectations of their dish. Among the dishes ordered were pork fried rice, happy family, house lo mein, crab puffs, egg rolls, pot stickers, szechuan beef, beef with broccoli, orange chicken, chicken fried rice, chicken yaki soba noodles and possibly more. Seriously, the food was an very noteworthy surprise in it’s quality. So much so I will make it a point to return here even if it means driving an extra 15 minutes past McMinnville to do so. It’s worth the consideration if you’re in the area. I was with a party of 7 and the place was almost empty, so we had the near full attention of our bartender/waitress who was very friendly, prompt, and thorough in her service. The interior atmosphere isn’t something to brag about and many people have commented that it feels dirty. I won’t argue that point, but condition of the building exterior and interior seem to be mutually exclusive to the quality of the food. A real hidden gem or diamond in the rough as one might say.

The food was very good and made it worth it. But the place looked bad and was arranged horribly. The service was minimal at best. They even forgot to give us silverware.

Great little Chinese restaurant and to think it is in the tiny little town of Sheridan, OR. Love that they have Chow Mein with hard noodles! Their Sweet n Sour Chicken is great too! This is a little Hole in The Wall place but the food and amount is unbeatable!!!!!

Food has been good so far, but their online information needs to be updated severely! Got two BYO combos, and a side order of crab puffs for 47$….. when their online information says completely different. Anyways I took photos of their menu so no one else has to go through the same thing.

Food is meh. Place is filthy. And when I ordered to pickup and asked to put the sauce on the side you have the nerve to tell me it’s $1 more to not put the sauce on. Will take my business elsewhere

This place has been a favorite of mine since high school. Back before my wife was my wife, we used to come here during lunch for 2$ fried rice (now 2.50 I think). 8-9 years later I haven’t found any Chinese places with fried rice as good as here. Their other food is great too, and reasonably priced considering the quality of it all. Service is always fantastic, especially given our history of going there, they’ve been there as our babies were born and grown up. If you’re looking for food without going through traffic in McMinnville, I’d recommend Benny Huie’s over the casino.
