Drove 30 miles to try this place. 6:30pm on a Tuesday. Sign says Seat Yourself so we did, nice window seat in the lower section. After 5 minutes another patron told us 2 other couples had sat there without service and it was closed. The main restaurant section was full so we went to the bar and sat at a pub table. 5 minutes later we were brought menus and ordered drinks. 10 minutes later we overheard a customer being told “sorry, we only have one cook”. After hearing that I searched my phone for other nearby restaurants and found G’s pizza 3 minutes down the road. We ordered pizza and fish’n chips. It was ready in 15 minutes. We had a wonderful time sitting on their porch and the food was delicious. We cant wait to go back. We won’t however be going back to Ben’s.

Stopped in for a late lunch after boating on Berlin Lake. Waitress was super nice and helpful with menu and drink suggestions and also very attentive. Not crowded even though there were customers at about 4 other tables. Place was a little dark and kind of old fashioned in the decor but the food was good.

The service was great but would have liked to have had more than 4 “slivers” of chicken on my salad wasn’t impressed for $15.00 for salad. I could have gotten side salad and piece of chicken for less money. Burger was medium well should have asked how I would like it cooked. Don’t like raw burgers.

There was a wait when we went…we had just gone swimming and it was a Sunday so it was crowded and we didn’t feel like we would fit in and the prices on the board were well out of the price range we wanted. However…I have family members who swear it’s the best place so if you are out that and not drenched in lake water you should probably check it out.

The details: ordered a Lake Erie Perch dinner to go. 1.2 miles back to my campsite. The meal sat at the register for some minutes. The bar maid was busy. Soooo, let’s be fair and do this on a percentage out of 5 points for each component as ordered. 1. The Salad with no tomato, blue cheese on the side. Sent with tomato. 1 pt deduction equals 4 pts. 2. Loaf of bread. Very tasty, warm. No butter sent. 1 pt deduction equals 4 pts. 3. The french fries, my favorite kind, hand cut. Limp not crispy 1 pt deduction equals 4 pts. 4. The fish, good but very greasy. 1 pt deduction equals 4 pts. However, I started pulling the limp oily batter off to just eat the fish and pulled out a hair. 4 pts deduction equals 0 pts. Total 12 out of 20 possible pts equals 60 % technically a 3.5 however, since I had to stop eating the fish because of the hair, it’s a 3 star rating.

Food was absolutely delicious!!! We ordered take out, such big servings that we had the leftovers the next night. Bill was $30.50 for 3 people and 2 nights worth of food! The best part was the customer service. It is beyond hard to find good customer service these days and the customer service was the whole reason I wanted to write this review! If you want to experience food that is cooked with love, Oder food from Ben’s! A+++++++
