UNREAL! As a Poutine connoisseur, I can honestly say that this is the best smoked meat poutine I’ve ever had south of the border. Just crispy enough hand-cut fries, plenty of curds and nice hot gravy to melt them, and a heaping pile of perfect smoked meat. Picked up 3 Reuben/Russian sandwiches as well that were DIVINE! And a CLEAN BATHROOM! Seriously, 5 stars!

I heard big talk about this place and finally got to try it this weekend. Per recommendation I ordered ahead and my food was ready to go right on time (awesome) and everyone inside was super friendly (double awesome). The poutine was a big hit, and the sandwiches were fantastic the Black Russian was amazing. I used to travel to Montreal for work and Schwartz smoked meat was a must stop of mine and Bergs manages to fill that itch all the way down here in Jersey I’m very impressed I can’t wait to try more of the menu. (P.S. get the latkes with the apple sauce)

Insanely good food. The matzo ball soup is off the wall. Cauliflower burnt ends are a must have. And the pastrami is pure joy. Now let’s talk about the staff…..my first time walking in and ordering and they made me feel like family. Super friendly….polite and just awesome. We WILL be back.

My wife and I love a good Reuben. However, we did not realize that we have been lied to all these years until we tried Berg’s house smoked pastrami Reuben. It was tender, juicy (but not fatty) and deliciously seasoned. My only regret was getting the regular and not the “large”. I’m used to places handing you some factory made coleslaw or potatoes salad, but not these guys. Both were home made and delicious. Their coleslaw was fresh and had the right balance of sweet to tangy. I consider myself a potato salad connoisseur, and this place cracked my top five list of NJ! If you like dill potatoes salad with light mayo then you’ll love it! I had never tried poutine before and wanted to give it a go. That too was delicious. My son tried the smoked chicken salad and said he loved it! We had to park around the corner and walk over. Seating is limited to a bar top and a few tables outside. Overall, we enjoyed it and will definitely be back. You won’t be disappointed!

I loved it, it reminds me of Montreal. I wish they add less salt and spices to the fries, but I guess I’ll ask them myself. Just FYI

Anyone who lives or has been to Montreal will agree that Bergs has nailed it! Smoked meat is spot on, prices are very reasonable and friendly service.

Poutine was amazing! I have *unfortunately* never had Canadian poutine but my husband tells me this is pretty close. The smoked meat on it was delicious. Can’t wait to come back and try everything else on the menu!

Don’t sleep on the soups and salads. If you are health conscious, there are amazing options. Kale Caesar is a banger but the arugula salad with smoked meat is the best salad I’ve ever had.

I always pass this place and never know what it is. So glad I stopped in. The pastrami is out of bounds. The pastrami russian is a must order and I also liked the unique pastrami cheesesteak. So good. The cheese curds had a nice crunch and a funky sauce to them. The cauliflower burnt ends were ok but wouldn’t reorder. I would come back in a heartbeat for the sandwiches.
