Big D pizza was created by Peter Colombo owner of Alfonso’s Italian Restaurant in Dallas Texas for 38 years. Peter is a native of Detroit and grew up on the East side in a town called Fraser.Working on perfecting a Detroit style pizza for over 2 years we have decided to open BigDpizza as a ghost kitchen In the White Rock lake Area of Dallas Texas. Serving a menu of Detroit style pizza’s, Hand tossed pizza, Salads, and Hero’s. We will also have a variety of Better Made chips and drinks to include Vernor’s ,Faygo redpop, Rock n’ Rye and Orange all in long neck bottles.

Instructions are on the website, there is a side door to Alfonso. Solid Detroit style pizza, best I’ve had in Texas besides Via 313. Pepperoni is the way to go.

First know that Big D’s is actually inside Alfonso’s… it’s not a storefront on its own. The Detroit style pizza was very good. If our food had been the pepperoni pizza only, this probably would be a four star review. The crust was crisp and blackened in spots. The pepperoni cups were curled on the edges and everything had really good flavor. What brings the review down was the sausage topping on our other pizza- it was a major let down, dry and bordering flavorless. Not sure what they are using but it doesn’t hold up to the baking process. A crumbled sausage might be better. This maybe seemed like sliced pre-cooked and did not work.

Order the combination Detroit style and my pizza prayers were answered!!! This pizza was heaven sent!! Dough was soft, chewy, crunchy and packed with flavor!! I will be making the drive to Alfonsos big d pizza often!!! The to go service was excellent… good job!!
