Iowa Icon!! Huge Big Grove fans…the new Citrus Surfer wheat is a sure hit! The menu continues to evolve with great options. We had pizza today and it was really nice. We also enjoyed the big pretzel. Be sure to ask for the Boetje’s mustard…it has real zip!

You only run across such a great mix of service, food, atmosphere and great brews once in a great while. Attention to detail and high quality food and brews make this more than well worth the 8 mile side trek from Interstate 80. Our food was well presentated, flavorful, properly seasoned and hot. The brussell sprouts were perfection. Deviled eggs were tasty and by the book. The black bean Chili was a great choice upon a cold night and tasty. Mushroom tamales and the lamb meatballs were items offered that were a welcomed departure from run-of-the-mill gastropub food and I would consider to be signature dishes for Big Grove Brewery. Servers were courteous, helpful and well trained. The restaurant was clean and well kept. A full service bar was well appointed. Great job, well done to the owners, managers & staff at ‘Big Grove Brewery’! KUDOS!!!

No hate toward the Iowa City location, but…this place is just up another level. My cycling buddy and I were explaining to our server Joe today how amazing the food is every time we visit; after asking who had designed the food program and who was cooking the amazingness, the lead cook for the day came out and said hi to us himself. That kind of thing just does not happen often, especially outside of the fine dining world. The labneh dip is unreal. The wings are the size of a planet. Just incredible stuff, with a cozier and more homey atmosphere to boot that is refreshing against all these warehouse-type operations popping up. This specific Big Grove location is, in my opinion, the best brewery + restaurant in the area by far.

Had our wedding rehearsal dinner here, brewery tour, custom entrees, custom desert to say the least! Even got a couple things that were off the menu a the time! Big Grove always knocks it out of the park! Highly recommended.

Big Grove Brewery has amazing food and great drinks. The staff is always friendly and attentive. I have never had a bad experience here (and I’ve been more times than I can count). It can be very busy on the weekends and evenings though.

We visited Big Grove to watch the Iowa vs. Iowa State game last weekend. They have a daily happy hour from 3-6 where draft beers are half off. The food was awesome, wings some of the best I’ve had. The menu is very much farm to table and focused on clean ingredients and simple dishes. All of the beers that we had were great as well, with a good range of IPA selections! We will be back if we are in the area!

This is a fun place to stop in for drinks, a snack, dinner or all of the above. Love the decor and staff was very friendly. The menu was interesting and diverse. I also loved the mental health resources that were incorporated into the bar area. It was too hot while we were there to use the patio area, but that looked nice and welcoming too!

Don’t order the salmon pasta dish if you are really interested in eating salmon. It’s like ordering a burger and getting half a slider instead. Not more than an ounce of salmon in it. Also it doesn’t say it has peas in it, but it does. The dish was good but disappointing. Service was decent and liked the atmosphere.
