**Edit: I feel like I should add that two good friends of mine went here very recently and did NOT have a good experience. So maybe consistency is lacking. I’m still leaving my review as five stars unless I visit and have a bad experience myself.**

I can say without exaggeration this is among the best food experiences I’ve ever had. It’s hard to find a place that does something so well it doesn’t need extra help to be exceptional. The staff were mega friendly, and I really just felt like I was among familiar faces in a friendly neighborhood.

Seasoning is life when it comes to homestyle chicken wings! This isn’t fast food so expect a 25-minute wait. The mom was working the front counter so I asked for her recommendation. She said “everything is good (I predicted that response) but the Munchies Wings were her favorite.” I took one bite and I said to myself “Mama knows best!” They were fried just right and the seasoning was different than all the other wing places that serve homestyle. The butter toast was a pleasant surprise and great addition. The staff was friendly as well. I will be back!!!

This is a tough one to write. I really wanted to like it, and it’s a fun little hole-in-the-wall place. It’s a converted house that has the appearance to have been converted to a restaurant in the early 80’s, and had just changed owners every few years without any updates. But that’s a part of the charm. So that didn’t totally break it for me. But in the end, it was a fairly poor experience. They weren’t particularly friendly when we came in and the menu was hard to read. Our waiter took our order, brought us our food, and then left the building, never to return. No refills or anyone checking on us. The burger, fries, and onion rings were actually really good. The chicken tenders were dry, hard, and cold. They could have been from the day before.

During more than 60 years visiting hundreds of restaurants all around the world, I can think of only one time I was treated worse than I was on my first visit here, at 5 pm on a Friday evening. Let me establish first that the young lady who waited on our table was absolutely delightful. But there was nothing delightful about anything that happened otherwise. We placed a simple order: two catfish baskets and two wing baskets. We waited patiently for an hour and a half and our server came and told us they were out of catfish. Which meant after 90 minutes trying to show patience, they still had not even begun cooking our food. We promptly left. I would recommend you avoid this restaurant entirely unless you have the patience of Job. I can’t talk about the quality of the food because I never got to taste or even see anything. A dozen or so other guests gave up and left when we did.

My sister told me they had good burgers. I want to say they are freaking awesome. Such great flavor. Told them they needed to add liver to the menu. So glad I stopped. Worth the money.
