I recently dined at a delightful French restaurant, and I must say, the experience was exceptional. The grilled octopus, calamari, and mussels dish were amazing . Each element was cooked to perfection, and wonderfully tender. The combination of flavors was a true culinary delight.

Great local French cousin, nice bar, great service. Unfortunately we were there on a very hot and steamy day, and the AC in the restaurant couldn’t keep up with the weather. Other than that you should try them. Everything we tried was pretty good. The seafood medley was great, bon marrow with mushrooms are awesome. The duck was really good and muscles as well. I also really liked the anchovy toast. On the down side was tuna/salmon tartar (it was bland) and for some reason the house bread wasn’t as good as you would expect from the French restaurant. Other than that the place is great, just know what to order.

I originally gave this restaurant 5 stars, but after my recent experience, I have to downgrade it to 2 stars.

Didn’t understand why tips are forced to include but only receiving such unsatisfying services. Service only worth 5% tips because we used butter knives to finish our meal….. the server only checked once “how is everything” when I got all food in your mouth. Most importantly, the server didn’t give the change back after we paid cash and he thought he didn’t have to.

Nice variety of sea food including Italian style. They have ample outdoor and indoor seating. The service was good.

Wanted to like this place but it’s disappointing. We had the Mac and cheese to start and it wasn’t much better than fancy box Mac with shredded cheddar on it, very bland. My wife had the pumpkin ravioli and it honestly tasted like it was frozen and they warmed it up. The beef was good but wasn’t much better than what I could make at home. Well cooked but a bit bland. For $112 for two with 3 beers you can do much better at other places nearby

I found this little hidden place and took my family and friends for New Years last year. At first we were disappointed that their regular menu was not available because their website didn’t have a New Years menu so we actually picked the restaurant for that reason. When we got to the restaurant we were informed there was in fact only an a la cart menu but the food was so delicious that we didn’t regret paying the $100 for 3 courses. It was incredibly delicious French food. We went back and we were so incredibly disappointed in the food quality. My mom had hair in her salmon and lentils dish she had to stop eating after the 3rd bite when a hair was tangled within the salmon. The escargot was extremely salty. I ordered a Beef Short Rib Bourguignon and was lacking flavor of the red wine and lacked salt. The carrots and potatoes were rock solid. My friend’s mussels were lacking salt and was very average. My sister’s short rib ravioli was the same. All around lacked flavor and salt. For the amount we paid. It was very underwhelming. We were expecting the same quality we received the first time around but it wasn’t met.

I started going to Bistro La Source 7 years ago, and since then I’ve never been disappointed dining here! The ambiance is classic, modest and cozy, and I feel comfortable whether I’m dressed up for a date night out or in casual clothes for a post-work bite. The outdoor “pods” provide a beautiful and private outdoor dining experience, while the inside tables give a neighborhood-spot feel. This evening we opted for the Fried Calamari, Fresh Fettuccine, Mediterranean Seafood Stew, Lamb Lollipops, and Chocolate Torte. All delicious options I would and will gladly order again. I have also enjoyed the mussel bowls all ways available. The prices are very fair for upscale-ingredient French meals. Having tried most similar restaurants in Jersey City/Hoboken as a local, Bistro La Source still lands in my Top 5 for menu options, quality, ambiance and price.

I’ve been going to Bistro La Source going on 13 years and it was kind of a hidden gem back then. Really great French inspired food for an affordable price. While the price has gone up and some dishes aren’t as good as they used to be, the place still remains a good place to get dinner or brunch. The staff and service is great as are the drinks. The mussels are awesome as well!
