In 1995 founders Bruce Dean and Bob & Laurie Manley opened the first Black Bear Diner in Mt. Shasta, CA. Their mission was simple: create a fun and friendly atmosphere where the local community could enjoy huge portions of home-style cooking at a reasonable price. Today, we continue their mission at every Black Bear Diner across the country, as we passionately provide guests an outstanding experience. Black bear diner is always where it’s at! A definite must visit for breakfast! You will definitely get your moneys worth in food! Food was soooo tasty and cooked to perfection. The first time in today & was seated quickly. Trina was my server, she was attentive and so nice, she thanked me for visiting. I felt really good about it and enjoyed my food. The cinnamon roll french toast was good, and they serve thick cut bacon. It was a good time, will definitely be back.

We’ve had really good food and very good service at this location, but tonight that didn’t happen. We placed an order for delivery, and due to no fault of the restaurant, our order was taken to the wrong house. We re-ordered right away, and sadly, things weren’t up to par. The pot roast and salad were good, but the turkey was dry. As if that wasn’t bad enough, they forgot to include the gravy AND the extra gravy we ordered. We don’t always order dessert, but the photo of the chocolate cake screamed, try me! The portion is not the way it looks in the photo; definitely not worth almost $10. We would have been okay with it, but it didn’t even taste very good. I tried to call to speak with the manager instead of writing review, but there is no way to get through to them via telephone. We hope this was just a one time bad experience.

As soon as we walled into the restaurant, we were told that there would be a wait for a table. We looked around the restaurant, and it did not look that busy. There were open tables available. We were told 20 minutes. Two other parties came in after us and got seated right away. After over 45 minutes, we were seated. This was only after the manager came out to speak to us. There is a very big menu here. There is a lot to choose from. I got the fish fry with fries and steamed broccoli. There is an all you can eat fish fry on Fridays. My wife got the fried cod and shrimp combo and a salad. The salad was mediocre at best. The fish fry was decent, and the broccoli and fries were tasty. The pancakes there are very tasty. They have a sweetness to them, and it tastes like they are made with sweet cream. The service here needs some work, but the food is decent. We will probably not be frequenting this restaurant in the future.

I had the steak and eggs with biscuit and a side of grits. I loved the red potatoes with peppers and onions and the grits were perfect. The steak was a simple 6 ounces that was prespiced. The waitress was very kind and accommodating. She even gave me a coffee to go. Sometimes the service is the best part and I would agree here, though the food was still good.
