In 1995 founders Bruce Dean and Bob & Laurie Manley opened the first Black Bear Diner in Mt. Shasta, CA. Their mission was simple: create a fun and friendly atmosphere where the local community could enjoy huge portions of home-style cooking at a reasonable price.

My first time trying Black Dinner in Menifee, Ca. I’ve to Black Bear dinners at other locations and have favorites that I enjoy while there, like the stuff french toast or the chicken dinner. The food here is really good but my problem is portion size and price . And there isnt much value here. We eat out almost everyday so I’m always looking for a dealwhich I always find. Just not always here. So we do splurge from time to time for that stuffed French toast.

Nice place, don’t order the stuffed blackberry French toast unless you want something that looks like a fried apple fritter with blackberry jam on the inside and icing all over it, not what I expected at all. Sent it back for traditional French toast, with real blackberries on top. kids meals are huge and everything else was great as far as the food, the drinks are overpriced, waitress was nice and didn’t seem very busy, I wanted a refill on my drink and she never came back.

Me and my wife actually went there twice the first time we went I had a BLT it was right before they closed. My bread was burnt they served it anyway I guess they were just in a rush to close. We decided to give them another chance we came there for dinner/breakfast (Brinner as I like to call it) it was primo! We had the same waitress as the first time we came and she was on point. Breakfast with huge and I have the regular hash really good shredded potatoes eggs and bacon and toast. I don’t know what kind of coffee they have but it is excellent. Would have given five Stars but because of dinner a few days before this I can only give it 4.

Well, to start off, I placed my order online at about 3:30. I scheduled my pickup for 5:30. I got an email confirmation that my order was received. When I arrived they did not have my order. I looked at my email 2 hrs after I ordered, it said there was a problem processing the order. So they placed my order and gave me a discount. When I get home my food was burnt, my fries were not cooked good and there was a plastic particle in my sweet tea. My first experience at Black Bear diner was terrible.

Servers were friendly and polite. Wait time for food was about 10-15 min. They do not come back and check if there’s anything you need once plates are delivered to table. The entrée was plentiful, so you could share. Food was seasoned and flavorful. A bit pricey for senior citizens…

Some people might say, “C’mon, 5 stars? Really?” And I would respond, “Does a bear $HiT in the woods?!! Of course 5 Stars!!. Brought my wife and kids here for Dinner and it was AMAZBALLZ!! We checked in and were seated within 10 min. The place looks great. Bears everywherez!! The place was busy which is a good sign. The waitress was great, all staff was great. The food was even better. I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves. Prices were decent and reasonable. I definitely recommend if your in town. I will be coming back for breakfast! I can only imagine.

My wife and I are 68 and to be addressed as mommy and popy by our waitress was offensive, also being on a fixed income a senior discount would have been appropriate since they opened up in a retirement area. I think that once they find their way, improve their produce and meat they can have a nice place, till then we know better places to eat Good luck guys and we will be back.
