In 1995 founders Bruce Dean and Bob & Laurie Manley opened the first Black Bear Diner in Mt. Shasta, CA. Their mission was simple: create a fun and friendly atmosphere where the local community could enjoy huge portions of home-style cooking at a reasonable price. Today, we continue their mission at every Black Bear Diner across the country, as we passionately provide guests an outstanding experience. The food was okay at best. Steak was over cooked. The potatoes were under cooked. Everything was cold. Ironically, the best part was the pancakes… And they were obviously Bisquick. The greeter was amazing though.

They are not playing around with that freshly squeezed orange juice. Make sure you get yourself some of that goodness. Pancakes are huge and I love the small glasses of syrup. The eggs benedict will do you good. The menu is massive and there is something for everyone, at anytime, all the time.

Great experience! Went on a Sunday morning and there was no wait time. Our waiter was great and the food was delicious. Be warned! The portions are pretty big so keep that in mind when ordering as you might get full quick and have some leftovers. Everything we ordered was 10/10 and I love the cute bear decor inside and the bear logos all over =).

I was in town for business and staff at my hotel told me to check out The Black Bear. The wait staff was great and very friendly. The FOOD!!!! OH MY GOSH WAS AWESOME! This huge plate of food was presented to me, so much more than expected! It was cooked and seasoned perfectly!!! The price was great too! And best cup of coffee, thank you for having flavored creamers. I will be back for lunch before heading back to Michigan.

Great and speedy service. The food here was delicious! The only concern I had was the food wasn’t quite warm as I had wanted. The potatoes are usually crispy but they seemed more heated than fried to a crisp. The country fried steak was pretty good and the pancakes were fluffy and delicious as ever. Overall a good meal!

7/13/22: We spent a great time having dinner on our dad’s birthday here!! They have good portion for the price we paid, and their food taste great (seasoning nicely, not overly salty). You will be walking in to a cozily and beautifully decorated space, and our server was friendly. I recommend the California omelette and Eggs Benedict with Hollandaise sauce, don’t forget their huckleberry milkshake as well! We will be back for sure
