Having a seat at the Black Bear Inn instantly reminded me of the sort of diner and bar out in the black hills of South Dakota. It’s warm, inviting and cozy and draws you in both with the decor and hospitality. The service was prompt and polite and the food was pretty tasty as well. Definitely seemed like the kind of establishment with the regulars everyone knows on a weekday, but they don’t make you feel out of place at all if you’re new!

Went here to try fish. Small amount of food plus hefty price really did not make us want to return. It was not busy on friday night, which is usually an indication of how others feel. On a positive note, we have had breakfast here and it was excellent. This visit- not so much.

Great atmosphere. I should have sat at the bar cause the table service bad. Place was not busy. Food came out cold. Told the server about the issue and she told me that she hopes I can find hot food at another restaurant. Also told me that they have new, younger staff in the kitchen. Paid and left. Super disappointed, I wanted it to be so much better because the place felt right.

This place is such a great local gem. Ann provided us amazing dine in service. Everyone enjoyed their brunch and the bloody mary bar that is brought to the table. The local fish fry here is also very great! Thanks Black Bear and Ann!

30 min wait for the wrong order. Paid $20 for a basic cheeseburger that was falling apart with 10 fries. I order a Black Bear burger. There was a 1/3 lb basic frozen patty not the 1/2 lb. No bacon, pickle, or double cheese. Very disappointing. I will not waste my time or money here again. If you are placing an order for take out be sure to check what they give you!

The service is slow, but it seems to be more of a staffing issue because the 1 server was definitely earning their keep. Don’t expect fast here, but the food was decent bar fare and the staff were friendly.

The server was very nice. The management is very unorganized. If you know people there you can skip the line (a groupd of 8 came through and said “I told X we were coming…” so they were seated before us and another group that were already waiting). We were seated and then moved after given our drinks and menus (and they made us carry all of our stuff) because the staff is bad at communicating with each other. The food was not bad. The fried cod had a thick breading layer that wasn’t crispy all the way through and the cod itself was over cooked (that’s how thick the breading was on this thing). I had the seafood platter which felt like it was the bottom of a frozen bag with crumbs for pieces of shrimp and whatever else was in it. The other two adults with me were also disappointed with this food. Safe to say we will not be going back there.
