Green & Red Sauvignon Blanc, “Catacula Vineyard”, Napa Valley, California 2021
The Catacula Vineyard at an elevation of 1,400 feet sees warm sunny days and cool night allowing the Sauvignon Blanc grapes to maintain wonderful acidity and bright fruit. The wine is aged in a combination of stainless steel tanks and mostly neutral oak giving a creamy roundness to the final wine. The final wine has wonderful notes of lychee, citrus and an almost buttery nuttiness on the finish. Love this wine!
$60.00
GLF Chardonnay, North Coast, California 2019
Greg Lafayette has become one of our favorite winemakers. He was the final pupil of legendary winemaker André Tchelistcheff and the talent shows in all the wines he makes. This Chardonnay is made from grapes sourced from both Sonoma and Mendocino and has the perfect balance of oak, acid, and butteryness without any element overwhelming the purity of the fruit
$65.00
Koehler-Ruprecht Pinot Noir Kabinett Trocken, Pfalz, Germany 2020
Don’t be intimidated by confusing German wine labels. The cool climate of the Pfalz is the perfect growing location for the thin-skinned pinot noir grape. The estate lets nature take its course and allows almost no intervention in the making process utilizing native yeasts, neutral oak and natural enzymes. This pinot is juicy and mineral-laden with notes of fresh strawberries, raspberries and a crisp, stony finish
$54.00
Lopez De Heredia Rioja Reserva “Vina Tondonia”, Rioja, Spain 2010
One of the greatest wineries in the world making wines like they have for centuries. Lopez de Heredia is legendary Rioja using traditional American oak barrels and blending Tempranillo with other traditional grapes making for a wine with plum, truffle, tobacco and spice aromas with a long tannic finish
$115.00
Faust Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley, California 2021
This wine begs for a big fat ribeye to tame its body and tannin. Faust are cabernet experts and this expression delivers big bold black fruits like blackberry and black currant with a finish of licorice and graphite. This is an indulgent wine that really delivers

Excellent selection of steaks, family style sides and cocktails. Get a reservation as this place is busy. I highly recommend the filet. Also do not miss out on an excellent happy hour location.

My girlfriends and I visited after hearing such good things about Black Cow and it definitely did not disappoint! My friends and I couldn’t decide what to get so we shared a lot. Some things that stood out to me: the cocktails where all delish. I ordered the Smokey Dove which is a citrusy/spicy mezcal drink and would definitely go back for that! Maybe at happy hour with their steak frites HH special? I also loved the buttermilk fried oysters. Lots of flavors and crunch. The steak was one of the best I’ve had: I believe it was the petite tender. We ordered ALL the sauces and my favorites were a nice chimmichurri and a bleu cheese sauce. We got the crab cake which was choc-full of lump meat and well seasoned. We also shared the mac and cheese which was amazing and definitely shareable plus some really tasty brussel sprouts. Service was friendly and on point as well. Looking forward to going back in the future!

Great atmosphere, Great food, Great service. Best steak in the Charlottesville area. Our server was great. She was very helpful in explaining the menu and in helping us choose our food. It was also great to see mocktails on the drink menu as my wife is pregnant and usually is not interested in just getting a soda.

Their mezcal cocktail is my new favorite drink in Charlottesville. The wood fired oysters were amazing. The steak was cooked perfectly. Even the starter salad was fresh, plentiful and tasty. A great debut — I can’t wait to try out their happy hour next!

From the ambiance to the meal, we were very impressed and happy with our first time at BCCH. Ben provided excellent service, walked us through the menu, made us laugh. Various cuts of meat cooked to perfection! Thank you for making our birthday celebration a memorable one!

One of the absolute best restaurants in town! I surprised my husband with dinner here for his birthday with a couple friends and it did NOT disappoint. Literally everything we ordered was incredible…steaks, lobster mac and cheese (a MUST), whipped potatoes, crab cakes, fried brussels sprouts, a variety of cocktails…all of it was divine. And we felt that everything was so reasonably priced. Our server, John, was also supremely friendly, attentive and helpful which enriched the whole experience. We’ll for sure be back again

Amazing food and great atmosphere. The staff was so welcoming and seated us right away. We ordered steak and crab cakes, as well as several sides. As a pescatarian, there were plenty of options on the menu for me. Will definitely try the portobello entree on my next visit. Every dish was delicious! 10/10 recommend.

Passing through town and happened upon the hotel across the street and weren’t we lucky to have had this restaurant so close! It was amazing. Our wait staff was professional and polite. They had a wonderful recommendation for wine with our meal. The beef tartare was excellent. I would definitely go back if I was close by and recommend it to anyone who loves a good steak and fine wine. 5 stars all around!

We celebrated our Golden Anniversary tonight at the Charlottesville VIRGINIA Location. Ben, our server, was attentive and helpful! The steaks were perfectly cooked! The ambiance is casual as it is a cleverly renovated gas station and the noise level from ambient sound was high but we were fine with a table where we could sit next to each other. The food was what we were after my husband in a quest for someone who knows how to cook a steak! You’ll find it here !! Great bar and cocktails! Highly recommended. Price point high but worth it!
