With a talent for cooking excellent pizzas and a love of serving the community, owners Nick and Jessica built Black Dog Pizzeria from the ground up into the charmingly quirky pizza shop that it is today.

I tried Black Dog recently, and I have been meaning to go back. I had a Columbus style specialty pizza, and the flavors were on point. Honestly I was taken aback how excellent the ingredients tasted. The only tiny issue with the pizza was that it was a bit soggy in the middle. I prefer it to be crisp throughout. Maybe it was the burrata.

Pickup up from here for the first time tonight. Ordered online. The pizza was really great and flavorful. I got a 10” pepperoni with SPICY marinara sauce; that spicy marinara sauce was what makes this place stand out. I can’t ever get this type of sauce on a custom pizza anywhere else, and it’s my favorite type of sauce. It was great

Stopped in for carry out order. Got a NY Style pep and side of garlic knots. So goooood! Dough was perfectly cooked, pepperonis crisp, sauce was good, and cheese was great. Wasn’t greasy or soggy at all, I’ll be back again soon and want to try a specialty pie.

We decided to try this place since I drive past it often. We ordered a 10” Larry Bird Dog pizza, an Italian sub and 12 traditional dry rub wings. The total was ~$44 and not worth it at all. The pizza was a little salty and not very tasty. The wings were NOT crispy and didn’t look fully cooked. We put them in the air fryer to crisp them up. I now see why a previous review mentioned they looked like they came out the air fryer. The Italian sub was ok. Thankfully we have so many good choices for this type of food because we won’t be returning.

Stumbled across this place on Reddit and then again while eating at the Rail next door. We came in and dined in about an hour before closing. There was about a 10 to 15 minute wait which I don’t consider long at all for a pizza place on a Friday night. We ordered their pizza of the month, Columbus style. They absolutely killed it. The crust was thin and crunchy, toppings were of pretty high quality too. The pizza pictures was a Howlepeno Columbus crust which was essentially a spicy BBQ pizza. Not pictures were the garlic knots which were some of the best I’ve had to date. I’d go there just to order those alone.

First time trying Black Dog, and we thought it was delicious. First, I love a salad with my pizza, and theirs is one of the best I’ve ever had. The lettuce was crisp and fresh, not brown like many other restaurants. The toppings on the salad were perfect. Plus, their ranch dressing is homemade and really good. It’s a thin ranch which I appreciate when it comes to mixing it into the salad. Then we tried the Columbus style pizza. Nice thin crust, really tasty toppings. I loved the flavor of the sauce. Luckily, it is not a sweet sauce. The pepperoni is plentiful, slightly spicy, and yummy. Most of all, our dog really appreciated the PUPperoni cup. What a nice menu choice!

Nice folks. Great to have a locally owned independent pizza shop nearby. We ordered a New York style pizza with extra cheese and a well done bake. It was done on time and smelled so good I was tempted to eat a slice on the drive home. The pizza was great. Can’t wait to return and try the Columbus style pizza!
