I’ve spent a good amount of time traveling and working in Deutschland. This restaurant is a rip off in terms of claim to cuisine and price.

Most delicious pork chop I’ve ever had. A very upscale place in the middle of a very not upscale town, quite odd. But the food was great, service was well above average.

Firstly, let me say that this is the first review I have ever done, and I’m doing so to hopefully save others from having high expectations. My wife and I were looking forward to some authentic German food and went there for lunch on 7/2/2017. As both of us have German heritage, we were quite excited since we haven’t had our mom or grandmom to cook us a meal in many years. I used to live in Germany so I was especially excited. THE FOOD WAS AWFUL AND THE SERVICE LACKLUSTER! We started with store bought bread that had nothing to do with German cuisine. We had our waiters switch on us and had to wait a very long time for service. When the food finally came, the food was small portioned, bland, and seemed store bought. The one ice cream scoop of mashed potatoes were from a box, the sauerkraut from a can…the pork chop was decent sized and tender(the only bright spot!). Oh, I failed to mention that I had a salad fork to use for the main entre as well. This place has nice ambience, but is far from authentic, especially the cuisine!

Oh Boy, is this a little gem. A diamond in the rough. I ate at this place at the recommendation of a relative, and was soooo delighted! The ambience was one of a kind! A big waterfall and rooms with table cloths and fine dining. The German owner treated with personal attention. Oh, and what of the food? As I said, it was as good as it gets! The potato soup was wonderfully creamy and sharp. My friends meals were equally pleasing. Prices were very reasonable. I truly am perplexed about the negative reviews here, and am thinking they must be due to the restaurant being BUSY. ( long wait, slow service, sold out of food, etc.) And why do you think the restaurant was so BUSY? huh? maybe because so many people love to eat there???

The atmosphere of this restaurant is about the only thing it has going for it. We were intrigued by the large ski-lodge looking building and were pleasantly surprised to find the dining room to be sunny and spacious. That’s were the positives ended. We were told that the wait was 15 – 20 minutes; that was fine, we live in a busy area and are used to that kind of wait. About 5 minutes later, the host came back and said that he could seat us right away if we wanted to join up with another couple at a 6 seat table. We’re adventurous, we said sure and they seated us with a very nice couple. I think we waited at least 20 minutes to be noticed at all by the waiter, despite the fact that he was waiting on a table right next to us. When he finally came to the table, he was borderline surly.

Lovely meal with yummy schnitzel, spaetzle, & red cabbage cooked perfectly! Perfect creamy mushroom sauce! The German Riesling was not too sweet. The waiter was entertaining & excellent attention to every detail. The best German food I’ve had since being abroad!

Was a bit wary after reading the last few reviews on here, but we decided to take a chance and it was soooo worth it! The restaurant itself is beautiful, and the owner was so nice to us. I ordered the elk goulash and it was so good. The red cabbage was the best I’ve had of many german restaurants. All of the food was authentic, the service was beyond great, I would highly recommend visiting here!

We try to get to this place each year to pay homage to our German roots. Today was not a good day. It showed how badly this place needs a facelift of its menu and people despite their best efforts to overcome being short staffed today and not having the entire menu available to order as a result. It got to the point where they locked the front doors so no one else could come in! As for our food, it was lukewarm, late and unmemorable compared to past visits. Considering the cost, I still expect more homemade breads and more inspired sides and entrees. Otherwise this place will go the way of other German restaurants. I hope someone takes pity on this place – to update its look and safety including fixing bathrooms (and those front steps!), invigorate the staff and reenergize the menu. Then we’ll be happy to come back and make this annual trek a pleasant tradition again.

The ambience and old-world charm was sweet. But, I should have known this was going to be an interesting experience when I called to check the time of our reservation and was told they couldn’t tell me because there were”180 names on the reservation list.” I was asked what time I wanted to arrive and then TOLD when to arrive. We had to wait 10-15 min for a table, even though there were only about 8 tables in the giant dinning area and again, we had a “reservation.”
