My boyfriend and I come here about twice a year, and have always had a good experience, with food and service. We love the dark atmosphere and the old, “supper club” feel. However, tonight, on our 10 year anniversary, we were a little disappointed. As usual, we enjoyed our candlelit table (you do not see that at too many places these days), delicious cocktails (margaritas were fabulous), and friendly waitress (I do not remember her name, unfortunately, but she was great!). I love that they have a salad bar there (again, uncommon these days), although there was barely any lettuce available, (it was around 7:30, so maybe just finished dinner rush?). Both of our steaks were a bit overcooked. I ordered a Porterhouse, medium-rare, and it was very well-done. My boyfriend’s Prime Rib, ordered, “rare,” was medium. Our waitress was great, and offered to have a fresh steak cooked for me. I declined, as I was hungry and did not want to wait. I would guess that most people do not wait (who wants to watch the rest of the group eat?). I ate a few bites and took the leftovers home, as my boyfriend will eat anything (lol). The Au Gratin potatoes were fabulous. We will be back.

We never fail to receive wonderful food and outstanding service here! Chicago steak house-quality steaks at almost half the price. Always fresh and expertly grilled on charcoal. This is my go to when I entertain clients or other lawyers from out of town. They are always impressed! Highly recommend. (My wife prefers seafood and this place has the freshest salmon, lobster and sea bass that she’s ever tasted).

1 steak was overcooked and the other was undercooked. Overcooked by almost burned. I don’t mind well done occasionally, but this was too done for me. No flavor, even A1 didnt help. The rest of the food was okay. My 8 year old didn’t care for the chicken strips. The gyro platter was just one gyro. Figured it’d be more than that for $18. Unimpressed. Won’t be back. The gator tail was pretty good, though. Our server was doing the outside and inside so it seemed difficult for him to keep up with all the tables. It took a while for us to get refills on our drinks, but he did try his best.

My experience was over all very good. The steakhouse was very nice. The food was good. I had steak, it was grilled, in view, was somehow lacking flavor. Maybe it was just salt. It wasn’t dry per se, ordered it Medium, and it was. One could argue it was on the well side, but it was still really good as far as texture. Also split a Gyro, that was really good., came with Greek olives, tzeiki sauce, feta, 1 gyro, now granted, 1 FAT gyro, I was expecting another flat bread, but 1 did the trick. Server was on point.

The Steak pit is by far one of the best restaurants in Illinois! The food is great, the outdoor patio is perfect for summer, and the staff always treats you like you’re family. The steaks and salmon are so good, escargot is a must and splurge on a fun dessert!

I had the Beef kabobs special with rice as the side. Good quality meat and very tasty. Disappointed in the shrimp I got with that special. Next time I’ll just get the kabobs. Salad bar was fine. Nothing special about it.
