The food and service of this restaurant was excellent! The Scallop sashimi, Risotto and Wagyu are definitely must try. I will be back to try other dishes.

Very good food. Love the Japanese influence throughout the menu. Great fusion! The drinks are good, with great service. Second visit did not disappoint!

Beautiful experience all around. Drinks are clearly thought out and created, one-of-a-kind, works of an obviously creative, experienced master mixer. Bartenders take the crafting of each seriously as required. All ingredients are “top shelf.” The bar itself is “creative cool.” The drinks play off it and vice versa. The design reflects small touches which convey it is someone’s personal project, akin to a “sitting parlor” in an upscale home but without any air except that coming off the open space looking out at the Segerstrom skyline. The designer has taken this small space and performed a magic trick with the architectural plans to create a feeling of being out in the open space as opposed to crammed into a food court. The menu is equally as creative as any aspect of a visit here. The small menu packs incredible depth, just like the liquid and lacquer seemingly defying its physical limits. Any taste is sourced fresh and local but nothing about the care taken is screamed out. It’s a “whisper to a scream” of interesting eats one will no doubt crave to try over and over, knowing it’s possible a favorite might change or vanish by next visit because someone is having fun in the kitchen here. Now for the service and served. Think of a crossroads of the world. Those are your fellow diners, drinkers and humans deliberately in no rush here. One is as likely to have a quiet drink alone as see a magic trick from behind the bar just as much as an interesting conversation with a patron or staff member. Kings to paupers appear equally welcome here, and someone perhaps even brought a drink or appetizer on the house just because you add to, as opposed to subtract from, the successful equation here. Do not miss this place. Do not rush to or expect a rush here. It is “once upon a time at a bar” material. Come, relax, enjoy and “see the show.”

This new bar is located in the “Collage Culinary Experience” section of South Coast Plaza, tucked away in a small corner with limited seating, including a patio area. It was a cozy spot, and I appreciated that they provided blankets for those sitting outside.
