The best kept secret in Burlington. Tiny restaurant with big flavors in an upscale environment. I went here with low expectations and they far exceeded them. Steak was delicious and charcuterie was tasty. Space is a little cramped but once you get the food you won’t mind as much.

The menu online was not what was available when we got to the restaurant. Paid $30 for what was supposed to be a 7 oz bistro steak. It was barely 3 or 4 oz and it was tough. The shrimp cocktail was good. The waitress was more interested in her phone than waiting on us.

I absolutely hate to knock a small business in this economy but this was probably the strangest experience I’ve ever had in a restaurant. I should have known something was wrong when we walked in at 6 PM on a Thursday evening and there was only one other couple in the restaurant. When we left at 7:30 we were still the only two parties. The menu is extremely limited, maybe five appetizers and five entrées. One choice for vegetable (peppers and onions) and one choice for potato (garlic mashed) for every meal on the menu. And one option for a red wine by the glass which, at a “Steak and Wine Bar”, is unheard of. We had the Caesar salad as an appetizer, which seemed like it came straight out of a bag from Shaw’s. When it came time to order our steaks, the only vegetable option was peppers and onions which neither my daughter and I like. We were offered “mixed greens” as an alternative and what we were served was the same exact Ceasar salad only with balsamic on top. Would it be so difficult to keep a head of broccoli on hand? Steak and mashed potatoes were good but not spectacular. The woman next to us ordered an espresso martini after dinner and was told that they didn’t make those. The whole experience was really bizarre. And our tab was $113 before tip! That was two Caesar salads, two steaks, and one glass of wine. We will not be back needless to say.

Outstanding restaurant, very small and intimate. We spent some time with our server Alexie and the chef Skyler after our meal and had an absolutely wonderful time. Great vibes and outstanding atmosphere. Would highly recommend this alley based, off-beat restaurant =}

This semi-hidden fine-dining restaurant should be added to your list of places to experience when you are eating out in Burlington. Their well-curated menu has something for everyone. Enjoy an expertly mixed cocktail while you wait. You won’t be disappointed.

The food is transcendent. The service however is underwhelming. For the price and atmosphere, one would expect wait staff to be better dressed, less casual, and not taking shots behind the bar. We waited an hour after being seated before being served our entree, but the food is well worth the wait. We ordered the rack of lamb, the bistro steak, and the salmon, all was exquisite. We would go back but with lower expectations than before.

The Blue CatSteak & Wine Bar offers incredible service & an intimate fine dining experience! The ambiance is reminiscent of a 1920’s speakeasy. Originally, my guests & I stumbled upon this location on Thursday, 12/23/2021 hoping to find a duck entrée; however, to my disappointment the online menu did not accurately reflect the restaurant menu. Noticing the disappointment, our waiter/bartender (Maria) took initiative to notify the chef. The head chef, Maria Shaw, took the time to visit our table & provide recommendations on local places that did serve duck as an entrée. The staff was beyond remarkable; I can’t speak highly of them enough, they were gracious, personable, & prompt! We ultimately decided to dine in. I had ordered the espresso martini, pumpkin ravioli, & lamb— by far this was the best meal during my stay in Vermont. The lamb was flavorful & tender & the pumpkin ravioli was delightful— everything was beautifully presented & tasted delicious. Compliments to the head chef (Maria Shaw) & the waitress (Maria) for the wonderful meal, handcrafted cocktails, & a memorable experience! Happy Holidays!

Wonderful experience!!! The food was impeccable and the atmosphere reminded my husband and I of a “prohibition speakeasy” cozy atmosphere. The signature cocktails were delicious and the flourless chocolate cake was amazing!!! The staff was very accommodating and made terrific suggestions with detailed descriptions on the menu. We will definitely go back for another fine dining experience as this is a great Burlington gem. When you go, check out all the artwork and photography on the walls very eclectic and chic. Bon apetit!

The absolute worst service I’ve ever had. Server literally messed up on every table she had, running wrong food to the wrong tables, ordered still water and was brought sparkling water and was charged $6 for it. Food took forever and was completely bland. Have been served better steaks at Applebees. Highly suggest finding a better restaurant in town. Would give 0 stars if possible.
