I might have visited this place on a bad day because the reviews were good but my experience wasn’t great. Came for breakfast and after placing the order it took 45 minutes for the food to arrive. It looked good but was stone cold. The waitress was friendly but couldn’t make up for the food. I also placed a Togo order for the catfish dinner. I didn’t take a photo but the fried catfish was excellent based on taste and flavor.

OMG, delicious homestyle cooking. My friend had a giant burger on the biggest bun I’ve ever seen. I had chicken fried steak with perfectly crispy coating, and real mashed potatoes. I tried chocolate syrup on a buttermilk biscuit… I thought that was made up, not a real thing! We got our pie slices to go since we had no room after all that good food. Our server Sally was exceptionally thoughtful. She even helped us find someone who could replace my car battery on a Saturday afternoon!

We used to go often and enjoyed ourselves. My last visit with my mom the food was nasty. Waitress was pleasant, but she seemed on edge about the owner walking around. He’s not very nice and you can tell it feeds off on his staff. They’re afraid to offer refills and such.

Awesome “hole in the wall” restaurant. Hand painted race horse moral with other inside decor that revolves around the racing industry. May not be pleasing to the eye from the outside… However, when you go inside your viewpoint on the atmosphere will change. The food is neatly made and prepared and tastes just as good as it looks. The service was exceptional and there was only one server who held her job with pride, commitment, and a smile.

I ordered the smothered hamburger steak with crispy okra. The beans and cornbread are featured on the board and I was disappointed to learn the beans “weren’t quite done.” The service was good and the kitchen was getting the food out quickly. The salad was cold and crisp. We will return the next time we are in Sallisaw.
