Just had lunch here. The Goat platter and the steak platter were really good. Loved the flavourful rice!! There was so much goat meat and the platter was a really good price. Clean cozy place with friendly people. Wish it was closer to us to come more often!

I have little to no experience with Somali/East African food so there’s nothing for me to compare it to. All I’ll say is it’s amazing. The goat is so good and tender, their rice is filled with flavor, the service is so friendly and accommodating. The husband and wife (I assume) that run this place were both so friendly and grateful.

AMAZING food, especially the goat platter. This was probably the best goat I’ve had since spending 2.5 years in East Africa as a Peace Corps Volunteer.

Been eating here for years and they’re always consistent. The sambusas got smaller but they are reasonably priced so I just order more. The Steak on Kay Kay (crepe) is my go to dish. Everything is made to order so it’s a 20 minute wait when extremely busy.

Absolutely loved everything I had! The kay Kay with tender goat was amazing. Sambusas were excellent, especially the beef with the green sauce. Prices were affordable and serving size was generous. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Highly underrated. Such incredible food for a really good price? Lamb melts in your mouth and has great flavor. My typical lunch order is a few Sam us as (chicken, beef, or veggie – they’re all so good) and a mango smoothie for about $10 and I’m always full and happy. The staff that works there is always so nice and I really just love Blue Star and hope they are open forever.

From the moment I drove up until I drove off, I was very pleased. This little restaurant is a family owned treasure. It was my first visit and hopefully not my last. Unfortunately, I’m not a resident of Milwaukee.

If you have any hesitation, squash that hesitation like a bug and come eat here! Your taste buds will thank you later! For as long as I’ve lived in the east side I have come to blue star! You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. Service is so friendly and professional. Servings are plenty large, especially for the price! I get two meals out of kay Kay or platters, mostly because it’s so good I want it to last 2 days. Kay Kay is probably my favorite thing on the menu. They pile that bad boy high with yummy, broth-soaked ciabatta, raisins, potato, onion, and your choice of meat. And you have to get a spider of either hummus or sambusas, obviously!!

I came with my husband and our friend and everything was incredible. The food was so flavorful and mouth wateringly delicious. The goat platter was one of the best things I’ve eaten in a while. An amazing value for $8.99. the rice was so good with it too. We got some beef and vegetable sambusas and they were also really tasty. I would definitely come back many more times in the future. The inside is surprisingly welcoming and cozy. It feel homey like I was in a family member’s dining room. The colors, decor, and furniture are all comfortable and charming.

Excellent spot! Unassuming, unpretentious, but damn the goat slaps! And the sambusas are friggin delicious. This is my first introduction to East African fare and I’ll be venturing back to try some other menu items soon!
