Some friends and I went there for a guy’s night out. It was quite a drive for us. It is at the Mt. Vernon, Illinois airport. We went on a Friday night, It is a buffet, all you can eat. Friday night is fried fish, shrimp, and clam strips, and I was told you could order crab legs, but I don’t like crab legs. The salad bar looked fresh and good and they keep it clean. The other foods were just basically, buffet foods that you get on any buffet. The fish was very crunchy, which some of the guys really liked. It was good, but once you get through the crunch, the fish was mushy, didn’t care for that. The waitresses looked after us and were friendly. I was just told they are closed for 2 weeks for remodeling. They can use it. Oh, and they did have fried chicken on the buffet as well.

First time there. Was recommended by our neighbor. The food was so very good and good variety to choose from. Staff very friendly and seating us immediately as we entered. The restaurant was Very Clean and was easy to get around the buffet area. Would highly recommend it to others.

I have eaten at several of their locations and each one is just as good as the other. The buffet is well maintained and fresh, with a fantastic variety. The fried chicken is always available and always good. The burgers are typically huge. Try the fried cheese cubes. Those things are delicious. Except for the West Frankfort location which doesn’t carry them anymore, which is silly.

Remote Hog
This was my first visit here. Found it on a Google search. So glad I did, too. This is a hidden gem in Mt. Vernon, for sure. The place has such heart and soul, not to mention great food, staff, and atmosphere. When I saw that they had a “fallen comrade table,” I knew I had to try this place. The restaurant was so quaint and understated. Nice diner style. Good sized buffet with lots of choices. The fried chicken was so good, as was everything that I put on my plate from the buffet. The prices were reasonable too. After our meal we looked around at the walls of service men from one corridor to another. There was such respect and honor given to them. It was awe-inspiring. I am looking forward to returning. And maybe this time, I’ll have more time to check out the photos and information of the service men. What more could a person ask for? … Great food, awesome atmosphere and friendly and informative staff. Thanks to Kimmy for having the photos on the website so we could find this wonderful place. And our server Christy was on the ball and deserves a big thanks. We will be back soon.

We had the buffet, meat selections were good, fried chicken was dry but coating was good. Other selections were warm not hot. Salad bar and dessert bar was good, all day breakfast will be tried soon. Go you will not be disappointed!

1st time here! We came after a field trip around 1040 am and it wasn’t busy at all. Our server was awesome. Food was good. My 4 year old loves the pancakes. They have a menu and/ or Buffet with a salad bar.
