Had an outstanding experience at Bread and Water. When you first enter you are greeted by a very pleasant staff to assist you. We were early so we waited in the small but very nice bar area. The drinks were made to perfection. Our party reserved the private “cell” room, very comfortable. The wait staff was very attentive and informative. The selection was very unique and we sampled most of the appetizers, all outstanding. The entrees were the same. An excellent experience was had by all. Would highly recommend you try this restaurant.

As a chef I am extremely critical of my dining experiences. Let me tell you: I was blown away. Not only is the building itself captivating, but the food and the staff are as well. Excellent pairing of savory ingredients, modern presentation and balanced flavor profiles. I tasted a bit of everyone’s dishes at the table and we ordered one of each desserts. Truly I haven’t been this satisfied with a dining experience in quite some time. Not only that but I poked my head in the kitchen and it was spotless! A major plus for someone who has seen everything but in my profession. Highly recommended!

This is easily one of the best restaurants in CT, the food, drinks, staff, and ambiance make for an amazing dining experience. The butternut squash soup was probably the best soup I’ve ever had and the short rib was excellently cooked. Top it off with a Smoke on the Water and I was more than sated. Can’t wait to back again soon.

Intimate atmosphere and amazing food. Hands down one of the best meals I have had. Everything was fresh and made right then. Homemade pasta and gnocchi was delicious. The menu changes every 4 weeks so make sure to check the website. Waitstaff was attentive and very very friendly. The back story of the house as a jail gives the place even more character. Highly recommended.

One week ago my children and grandchildren arranged a small private party at this “gem” to celebrate my 80th birthday. From the moment I arrived to the time I left, it was pure pleasure. The interior was tastefully decorated, inviting and comfortable. We had the entire restaurant to ourselves and were seated in the front dining room. Our waiter was Derek who took us on a tour where to met Carl who was the owner and chef. My children left the menu to him and we had eight courses of perfection. Every presentation was beautifully executed and outdid the one before. Example…..I would describe the heavenly gnocchi as “velvet pillows.” By the time we finished off dessert, everyone was contented and well pleased. I look forward to returning again and wish them continued success.

Went last night for dinner, this place blew my expectations out of the water! I could not believe how phenomenal the food was! Just had dinner with friends and the meal was fantastic! Everything from appetizer to dessert was wonderful, especially the gnocchi! The restaurant itself was beautiful. We will definitely be returning. Next time we will ask to sit in the “cell”!
