Someone mentioned this place in a Facebook chat this morning. I had an appointment in Carrboro, so I decided to pop in for takeout. Got the spinach, mushroom, portobello quiche, and the Cascade salad. Everything was delicious. Service was kind (didn’t rush me or appear annoyed while I worked through the extra thing I would get). Didn’t try the gluten-free strawberry cheesecake, but plan to try it along with one of their smoothie. Beautiful tables.

This place was delicious and in the perfect location! You order at the counter and they bring food out to you. We only waited about 10 minutes in line on a Saturday morning and got our food in about 30 minutes while we drank coffee. The staff was all very friendly! For it being a Saturday it wasn’t too crowded and we easily got a table. They have drip coffee you can serve yourself and milk substitutes available. They also have outside seating and there were some dogs. Highly recommend the Maple Latte and the Breakaway Breakfast! Lots of parking right outside and very close to all the Carrboro charm.

Brand new spot in heart of Carrboro with inviting atmosphere, incredible food and coffee and caring friendly staff. This place truly cares about the quality of the food as well as overall experience which is so hard to come by these days!! Would highly recommend and will be back many times. Also do yourself a favor and try one of their freshly baked scones. They are next level goodness and they are addicting.

Just moved my daughter in at UNC and stopped at Breakaway for coffee and quick breakfast. The food was amazing – definitely not something you’d get in a typical coffee house. I had the brioche French toast, and she had eggs Benedict. Both were amazing! My daughter says this place will be a regular for her, and I’ll make a point of coming back the next time I’m in Carrboro.

Great location with good outdoor seating. Cool vibe inside. Excellent coffee. My go to is an oat milk cappuccino which they make perfectly. Current favorite breakfast is the Breakfast Grain Bowl with citrus quinoa, mushrooms, sweet potato, kale & tahini sauce, it’s fantastic!!! Nice staff!

If you want superb food, prepared perfectly, presented well from a staff that cares, look no further. Breakaway is our goto spot for our Wednesday and Sunday breakfast gathering of the boys. Busy on the weekend so you may want to try mid-week. We’ll worth the wait ANY day of the week. I believe they are a living wage employer.
