Brother Jimmy’s has celebrated over 25 years of legendary North Carolina, slow-smokin’ barbeque. As suggested by the restaurant’s slogan – “Put Some South in Yo’ Mouth” – Brother Jimmy’s mission was, and still is, to bring “down-home” cooking, hospitality and merriment to the heart of the Northeast.
Over the years, Brother Jimmy’s established itself as the home away from home for A.C.C. Alumni. Homesick alums from Duke, UNC, N.C. State, Georgia Tech, U.V.A., Clemson, Maryland, and Wake Forest began to flock to Brother Jimmy’s to catch the big Duke/UNC game, or to watch the Demon Deacons take on the Terps.
Relaxed joint for Southern-style BBQ, including pulled pork & dry-rub ribs, plus sports on TV. Based on 76 reviews, the restaurant has received a rating of 4.3 stars. Price

This fast-casual eatery is a welcomed addition to the Sand Lake/Dr Phillips area. The Smokey aroma that greets you when you step inside is enough to legitimize this place… and likely enough to also torment neighboring restaurants.

Finally a real bbq restaurant in the Dr Phillips area… the food is excellent and unless you are willing to travel out of state you can’t find anything better. The dry rub ribs were tasty, soft and juicy, the cobb salad will satisfy those watching their calories . Will definitely be back to try their other offerings…

Dr. Phillips needed a great BBQ options and Brother Jimmy’s is it! First visit for dinner was good; second visit of pulled pork, wet ribs, and sausage were spot on. Third visit of lean brisket and wet ribs — moist and flavorful. Mac and cheese side was perfectly breaded with the right amount of cheese and collard greens are authentic. True cornbread with no dry edges.

Stumbled across this little gem by way of Google.. searched for a close restaurant to meet and eat with an old friend since moving back to Orlando.. we both absolutely loved it.. great customer service.. top notch chicken wings, I ordered them dry and sampled sauces.. ooo wee the fried brussel sprouts were awesome.. even got the banana pudding, to-go and it turned out to be delicious.. basically all good, no complaints and I’ll visit again!!

I was going to chipotle, and this place caught my eye. I love BBQ. I got a kids meal just to be able to try it, and it was quite delicious. The barbecue was moist and had a little kick to it. The brussels sprouts were fried perfectly. I was not a fan of the original barbecue sauce, it honestly didn’t even taste like barbecue sauce. The pork didn’t even eat it though. I’ll be back

This is a positive mixed review, which I hope the management will take notice and fix. For a small, strip mall-type operation, the interior design and service were very good. The plus is that the beef brisket is as good as anywhere I have traveled. Perfectly smoked, tender with a thin layer of fat, lightly salted, and delicious. The proprietary Chipotle bar-b-que sauce was delightful. I ordered a 1/2 pound of brisket to take home. The disappointment was that the smoked turkey we ordered was dried out, overcooked, and tasteless. Having the brisket and the turkey side-by-side was like the proverbial night/day. I am a bit shocked when they served the turkey they did not notice. It could not be missed. When I took the turkey back to show at the end the staff acknowledged and apologized, but nothing else. Did not expect a free meal or anything, but I did expect more empathy and commitment to fix the cause. I am visiting for two weeks and we do plan to go back and get some more brisket. In the end, never would really expect to find such extraordinary beef brisket in this setting. I also hope they offer a few more offerings of beer choice.

Ordered 2 meat dinner. I could already tell when the brisket was cut, that it was too hard. I should have said something right there. I ate a bite and left the rest. It was hard and dry and tasted like nothing. Sorry… the ribs weren’t kept warm ideally too and were too cold and a bit too dry but the taste was very good. Also the sides – beans, sprouts and corn bread very very good to excellent.

We originally wanted to go to Yellow Dog Eats for lunch today but it was super busy so we googled best BBQ in Orlando. And read great things about Brother Jimmy’s. Nice little spot and had a great vibe going on even though we were the only people in the place. My husband was craving ribs and they were out. On a Sunday at lunch which was very disappointing. He and I shared the pulled pork and the brisket entrees. Great flavor for both but the brisket was a bit dry. The baked beans were really good and the fried brussel sprouts were the BEST! And loved the barbecue sauces too. The cheese quesadilla we ordered for our 5 year old was way over priced at $10 that came with no sides and the brisket was too. Hopefully the owner reads the reviews because I think they could be a lot busier if they’re prices were better – would keep people coming back more often. Other than the cost of the quesadilla and being out of ribs on Sunday it was good and will go again but not too soon.

Coming all the way Texas.. I walked in the place, it smelled great. I had the brisket. I asked for marble unfortunately they were out so I went with the lean. It wasn’t bad to my surprise. I did use bbq sauce to give it a little more juice. I also had the pulled pork sandwich honestly wasn’t a fan. Overall great because there’s not many BBQ places around Orlando, FL.
